I guess she thinks she's running:
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has put the largest amount of space yet between herself and a rapidly more-unpopular President Barack Obama, calling his refusal to "build up a credible fighting force" in Syria to battle the Assad regime a "failure" that led to jihadists such as the Islamic State (ISIS) moving in.
“The failure to help build up a credible fighting force of the people who were the originators of the protests against Assad — there were Islamists, there were secularists, there was everything in the middle — the failure to do that left a big vacuum, which the jihadists have now filled," Clinton said in an extensive interview with the Atlantic's national correspondent Jeffrey Goldberg.
If there were Islamists, Mrs. Clinton, the "secularists and everything in the middle" didn't have a snowball's chance of making it into "a credible fighting force" against Boy Assad. And whaddaya know, they didn't. Which is why we had, and still do not have, any dog in the Syrian fight and should have, and still should, stay out of it. In addition to the fact that intervening in the Syrian conflict against Assad would have brought the U.S. into more or less direct confrontation with Iran - something I certainly would have supported in and of itself, but would have collided with O's obsession with ensuring that the mullahs get their nuclear arsenal, an outcome I recall you strongly supporting as well. Guess you haven't lost the deft diplomatic touch you displayed in everything from your poorly edited "reset button" blooper with the Russkies to the four Americans you got killed in Benghazi. And that will be SUCH a boon to your <snicker> 2016 campaign.
Our fight is actually with ISIS. And, to give credit where credit is due, Barack Obama had what's left of the U.S. Air Force - reportedly a few classic biplanes (confiscated from an antique air show on an "emergency basis"), an old Goodyear blimp, two guys in Christian Bale-era Batman Batsuits, and the rubber band puddle-jumper Ron White used to risk his life in before he could afford his John Madden-esque tour bus - drop another bomb on an ISIS artillery emplacement or something, providing cover for Kurdish forces to save twenty-thousand Yazidis:
A rescue effort has freed 20,000 of the Yazidi refugees trapped on a mountain in northern Iraq and surrounded by ISIS forces, CNN reports, but thousands remain trapped with limited food and water supplies.
As the U.S. military hit ISIS targets on Sunday, the Kurdish military was able to reach some the Yazidi Iraquis and help them board trucks. They were then taken to the Syrian border town of Hasaka, Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights spokesman Kamil Amin told CNN.
From Hasaka they were taken to the Iraqi border city of Dohuk, where they were given shelter.
Between 30,000 and 40,000 Yazidis remain on Mount Sinjar, where they fled after ISIS attacks last weekend. The U.S. military is airdropping food and water to the Yazidis after President Barack Obama announced the humanitarian effort late last week.
Still a long way to go, but the novelty of actual good news coming out of the Middle East that doesn't come out of an Iron Dome anti-missile missile launcher is so stark, it has very painful effects upon my eyes....
No word yet on whether President Gutsy Call will be willing to spare the blimp for an air sortie or two that could come to the rescue of the 200,000 Christians who are currently being butchered by the Islamic State.....
....but what's a few beheaded children, raped mothers, and crucified dads when the image of the "religion of peace" is at stake, right? Besides, we're probably out of bombs.
