Hundreds Of U.S. Citizens Have Joined ISIS

by JASmius

I guess we aren't a Christian nation anymore:

The "Islamic State" terror organization has the capability to hit the homeland, South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said Sunday, and it's "time now to assume the worst about these guys rather than to underestimate them."

"I would argue that the intel that we've been provided in Congress is that there are hundreds of American citizens holding U.S. passports, there are European citizens going to the fight," Graham, appearing on CNN "State of the Union," told host Candy Crowley. "They can penetrate America by having European and U.S. passports." [emphases added]

Only hundreds?  After six years of pro-Islamist Obamunist rule, I would have thought the number would have been in the thousands, or tens of thousands, at the very least.  Still, that does gibe with what an "ISIS spokesman" was telling Reuters last week about Western leaders being "fools" for expecting their attackers to show up swarthy, bearded, and turbaned.

It's also consistent with the identification of James Foley's executioner:

A 23-year-old British former rapper was identified on Saturday by British security officials as the man suspected of beheading American journalist James Foley, according to news reports.

Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, who is said to be known by Islamic State members as "Jihadi John" because of his British accent, was identified by unnamed British intelligence sources as the masked terrorist standing by Foley in a video ISIS posted on the Internet of the execution, the Sunday Times of London reports.

Prior to release of the Foley death video, Bary had posted a photo of himself on Twitter holding a severed head.

He was identified by the British Security Service and the Secret Intelligence Service, the Times reports, citing sources it did not identify.

Bary, whose music has been played on BBC radio, left his family's home in West London last year to go to Syria, the Telegraph reports. He had a similar build and skin tone as the jihadist in the video, British authorities said.

For ISIS, Bary is fighting under the name Abu Kalashnikov, the London Evening Standard reports.

Not American, but still Western.  Or is he?:

According to the Evening Standard, Bary is the son of high-profile al-Qaeda terror suspect Adel Abdul Bary, the Egyptian militant who was extradited to the United States in 2012 over allegations that he masterminded the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in East Africa.

So an ostensibly westernized Egyptian, but obviously not Westernized enough to avoid being a "fruit that don't fall far from the tree".  Kind of puts Barack Obama's toast to how "Muslims helped build this country" in a more visceral context, doesn't it?

The Brits, at least, are taking the Foley beheading seriously....:

Britain's Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said Sunday that the killing of Foley by a man speaking with an English accent was an "utter betrayal of our country".

"It is horrifying to think that the perpetrator of this heinous act could have been brought up in Britain," Hammond wrote in an article published in the Sunday Times.

"It is an utter betrayal of our country, our values and everything the British people stand for."

Hammond also warned that IS was "turning a swathe of Iraq and Syria into a terrorist state as a base for launching attacks on the West."

He added: "Unless they are stopped, sooner or later they will seek to strike us on British soil."

....but not too seriously:

Britain has ruled out sending ground troops into Iraq to fight the jihadists.

You actually can't entirely blame them.  After all, can the Brits be entirely confident that a significant portion of any military personnel they deployed to Iraq and Syria wouldn't switch sides and ambush their comrades?  Not that they couldn't do so "at home," but such a deployment would take them where they could join up with their fellow jihadists at the Queen's expense.  Of course, on the other hand, staying in jolly ol' England serves them by allowing them to remain deep cover agents.

There's really no way out of this, is there?  Kobayashi Maru.

In that context, look at this particular comment from Senator Grahamnesty:

Further, said Graham, "if our military commanders tell us that we need ground forces to defeat ISIL, which is a threat to the United States, so be it. We have got to win and stop these guys."

As the attack on Foley has been characterized as a terrorist attack, "I hope the new mission is to defeat and destroy ISIL as a threat to our homeland," said Graham.

The senator does not believe America will be safe if ISIL is not defeated. [emphasis added]

Of course, we need ground forces to defeat ISIS.  If we had not withdrawn the ground forces we used to have in Iraq, ISIS would never have arisen in the first place.

But the same man who made such a to-do about the need to withdraw them, basked in the glory of being an "ender of wars," and so viciously demonized his predecessor as a "warmonger" and "Islamophobe" plainly and simply will not be the man to pirouette and follow in his predecessor's footsteps.  He will allow the beheading of every last American civilian, the incineration of multiple American cities, before he will ever admit that he was completely wrong on the cause that was the core of his campaign and his party's decade-long fatwa.

Take my advice, folks: Do not make a drinking game of the number of times you hear pundits, perhaps even across the political spectrum, call for and denounce the utter absence of, "leadership" from Barack Obama.  That will create a pandemic of alcoholism that will make the Russians look sober.

On the other hand, I understand self-anesthesia takes some of the sting out of decapitation.

UPDATE: Oops, sorry, left out the nuke video.
