It's only been a few months since Burger King introduced its limited edition "Proud Whopper" to celebrate gayness. So, they must be a bunch of leftists. And liberal left progressive socialists are anti-capitalists, right?
The Democrats are feeling a little betrayed, after their homosexual fetish was tickled with the gay whopper.
Fast Food giant Burger King has threatened to move its corporate headquarters to Canada for tax reasons, and to buy a restaurant that does real well in the Great White North. The liberal left progressive commie response has been a massive onslaught of bullying, yelling, cussing, and threats of boycott. Burger King leaving the United States over liberal left tax policies does not fit with the progressive narrative. Remember, Barack Obama tried to convince everyone that Bush's policies, and GOP policies, chase businesses out of the United States - not the policies of feel good socialist leftists with good intentions as they raise taxes, and force increases of the minimum wage.
When the liberal left is in command, they believe the world becomes static, that there are no consequences for their actions. If they make America's governmental policies hostile towards business, what did they expect corporations to do? It happens in the several States all the time. Businesses are leaving California as fast as they can because of high taxes and hostile regulatory standards.
The Obama administration has tried to dangle a few worms on a hook, but Burger King has pretty much told the administration, "Thanks, but no thanks," as they pursue a merger with Tim Hortons, Canada’s popular bakery and coffee chain, a move that would make the new company the third largest fast-food restaurant corporation in the world (behind McDonald's and KFC), and the new company would be headquartered in Canada.
Liberal left revenue snorters are calling the deal "tax evasion," because Canada boasts the second-lowest corporate tax rate of any G-7 nation.
Notice, there is no mention by the progressives of how the United States could lower taxes to keep their companies inside our country (which would spurn growth, create jobs, and in the long run increase the amount of taxable income of the growing company).
Barack Obama can't keep American companies in the United States, and leftist's policies are creating an exodus from this country because in the end, companies are in business to make money. That is the reality of life in a country that champions liberty. But the liberal left just can't have that. In fact, earlier this Summer, the Obama administration threatened to use unconstitutional executive action to limit the ability of American companies to avoid paying America’s corporate tax rate by, as the president said, “renouncing their citizenship.”
“[T]he news gives Democrats another talking point,” a Business Insider analyst wrote. “The potential departure of an iconic American company because of ‘corporate greed’ will be trotted out on the campaign trail.”
Shouldn't we just rename the Democrat Party the "Soviet Socialist Party," and allow them to change their slogan to what they really believe - "Down With Capitalism!"
I guess that would make the Republican Party the home of the "Capitalist Pigs."
MSNBC's Morning Joe conversion on this topic reveals quite well what the liberal left truly believes about this. . .
“They’ll keep their money and we all will have to pay their taxes,” an outraged Joe Scarborough said on Monday. “So, you know what I’m going to do so I can afford to pay Burger King’s taxes? I’m just not going to ever go to Burger King again.”
“I think a lot of Americans should not go to Burger King again if they’re going to cheat,” he added. “It’s wrong for them to do this. They are stealing money from us.”
“Boycott B.K.,” Scarborough’s sidekick, Mika Brzezinski, concurred. “The reason they’re doing this is because you can.”
Stealing? Cheat? Doing it because they can?
It's business. If you don't like it, fine, don't go to Burger King. Don't buy their gay burger. But let's not forget what country we live in. A business has a right to take actions that is best for business. Besides, they aren't stealing taxes. The federal government's problem isn't a revenue problem. It's a spending problem.
People don't start a business so that they can have employees, and pay taxes. They start a business to make a better life for themselves, to pursue something they enjoy doing, and to make profit. That is the reality of a free system. With liberty comes choices.
Mika Brzezinski's comment is the most concerning. Mika said, "The reason they're doing this is because you can."
Mika is suggesting that government disallow a business owner from making decisions he or she believes to be best for business. She is suggesting government control of the means of production. Brzezinski (is that a Russian name?) is suggesting a totalitarian style government in line with Hitler, Mussolini, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and any other communist, fascist or Muslim style political system you can pull out of your hat.
Oh, but it gets worse for the exploding heads of the angry liberal left progressive democrat goons. Warren Buffet, billionaire champion of the leftists, is helping finance the deal!
According to CBS This Morning, "Buffet is a capitalist before he is a patriot."
If patriotism is defined as taking actions to destroy one's business, lower profits, lay off people, increase prices because a company decided to remain in an abusive relationship with the federal government, and as a result eventually go out of business, then patriotism has been redefined in ways I am not aware of.
Paul Ryan, Republican Representative from the State of Wisconsin, said, "We are quickly losing American iconic brands because of our tax system. You need to get our tax system competitive. We are taxing these companies overseas ... These companies are either going to this or get taken over by from companies these are public companies."
Either, we are a free country that allows the free market to adjust in a manner that is best for business, and profit, or we complete the fundamental transformation of hope and change and become a socialist system where the government gains control of the means of production, and the country increases the speed of its downward spiral towards collapse, ruin, chaos, and a totalitarian takeover by a bunch of ruling elitists that right now deceptively call themselves democratic.
