U.S. Immigration Has "Lost" 6,000 Potential Jihadists

by JASmius

Again, the "incompetence vs. malevolence" question regarding Barack Obama.  And again, the same conclusion: whichever it is, or in whatever respective proportions, the result will still be the same:

The Obama administration is unable to locate 6,000 foreign nationals who have entered the United States on student visas, raising concerns about the government's ability to track potential terror suspects who may already be in the country.

"My greatest concern is that they could be doing anything," Peter Edge, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official who oversees investigations into visa violators, told ABC News. "Some of them could be here to do us harm."

Really?  Never would have occurred to me.  Although, to be fair to myself, if you're an ISIS infiltrator, why bother posing as a "student" when you can just amble right across the former southern U.S. border like you own the place.  Which, as a practical matter, they already do.

Think about that number for a moment, though: six thousand.  How many jihadists carried out the 9/11 attacks?  Nineteen.  That's either a very comfortably large population of innocuity in which to hide, or that's three hundred separate mass terror attacks just a-gestating.  Or some outcome in between.  None of it augers will for us, in any event.

Statistics like the following make such dire scenarios unavoidable:

According to ABC News, U.S. immigration officials have had difficulty keeping track of the escalating number of foreign students entering the United States. In the past year alone, 58,000 students overstayed their visas.

"They just disappear," Oklahoma GOP Senator Tom Coburn told ABC News. "They get the visas and they disappear."

Fifty eight thousand.  Approximately the same number as U.S. combat deaths suffered in the Vietnam war.  Almost as large as the estimated forces of the Islamic State itself.

Are all of them actual or potential jihadists?  No.  But how many does it take to bring the U.S. to its knees?  Remember the ISIS "laptop of doom" that contained plans for weaponizing and deploying bubonic plague in the U.S.?  All you need is one, maybe a handful, of "Patients Zero".  A dozen to set off rudimentary nukes or radiological bombs in half a dozen large American cities.  Several dozen to set off multiple coordinated car bombs across the country.  The possibilities are endless.

And the terror would metastasize under a Regime that "loses" thousands and tens of thousands of "foreign students" every year:

Since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, 26 student visa holders have been arrested in the United States on terrorism-related charges, ABC News reported. The 9/11 Commission had recommended that the student visa program be tightened to combat future threats but the system continues to remain vulnerable to abuse.

There are currently 9,000 institutions of higher learning which are on the government approved list certifying them to accept overseas applicants. But Congress has raised concerns that immigration officials have continued to grant schools certification even when they lack accreditation, state certification, or other measurable academic standards.

These defenses could be tightened, the holes plugged, if there was the collective will to do so.  But there is not, because Barack Obama and the Democrat Party want no borders, period.  And that is precisely what they have inflicted upon us.  And neither they nor we know who might be doing what anywhere from sea to impoverished sea.

Which is remarkable given the prominent rise of the Surveillance State in recent years.  It's almost as if King Hussein sees Us, The People, as the enemy rather than the jihadist berserkers pouring over here with the intent of sending all of us the way of James Foley.

If only he was incompetent.  That might be our only remaining, reed-thin hope.

Either that, or "get lost".
