DeLay: Left Using Courts To Destroy Opponents

by JASmius

"The Hammer," and former Texas-22 congressman and House Majority Leader joins Steve Malzberg and J.D. Hayworth on America's Forum to discuss how he was found not guilty of money laundering and conspiracy charges by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and the American Left's hallowed tradition of the politics of personal destruction, and how they're "going nuclear" with it.

Money quotes:

"This is having a huge impact on our politics," he contends. "It puts the fear of God in elected officials — they don't want to stand up and fight for what they believe in because they're scared to death they'll get their heads knocked off by going to prison and having their families destroyed."....

"I call it criminalization of politics. It's a political strategy and it's undermining our system of government, it is deterring people [i.e. conservatives and constitutionalists] from running for office.

"It's putting the fear of God in elected officials not to stand on policy for fear of getting their heads knocked off. It's an abuse of power in our justice system to use the judiciary for political gain. But, it is a political strategy and to be honest with you, it's working." [emphasis added]

Think about this, my Tea Party friends, the next time you're about to go off on another anti-GOP "establishment" tirade.  How many of you would willingly choose to have your careers, finances, reputations, your families destroyed over the course of almost a decade?  And even if you could salvage something of the others, you'd know that your good name was irretrievable?  It's really easy to cry "Fight!  Fight!  Fight!" when it's somebody else's ass on the line.

And again, that's not an argument against fighting the good fight; but it is an urging to count the cost of doing so, and to understand that right most definitely does NOT make might, and for all the sacrifices you may end up making, you - we - are probably still going to lose.

We don't fight to win, in other words; we fight because it's the right thing to do.

Just ask "The Hammer".
