Ebola No Joking Matter, Reality Escalates

By Douglas V. Gibbs

There are some sick human beings on this planet, in both senses of the word.

A passenger left a US Airways flight with the other passengers booing him after he was escorted from the flight by personnel in hazmat suits following his alleged joke about Ebola.

The flight was from Philadelphia to the Dominican Republic, and landed at its destination in Punta Cana with the unidentified man being led off the plane by the suited workers.

The airline issued the following statement: "US Airways Flight 845 from Philadelphia to Punta Cana was met yesterday by local officials upon landing due to a possible health issue on board. We are following the direction of, and strictly adhering to, all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines in place for airlines in response to the Ebola virus. The flight was checked by officials and cleared. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but the safety of our customers and employees is our first priority."

As the hazmat team was about to board the plane, a flight attendant addressed the passengers. "It's going to look worse than it is," she said.

Unfortunately, the man may be terminally ill with idiocy and stupidity, two afflictions with no known cure.

The reality is, Ebola is a worldwide concern with a very real fear attached, where in some places, like Europe, the fear of the disease spreading has become mass panic among the populations outside Africa.
