Murrieta Mayor Alan Long Arrested for D.U.I., Injured Four Minors

According to a Murrieta Police Department Press Release, Mayor Alan Long, who gained national recognition when his call for action was thought to be influential in the Murrieta Immigration Protests last July, has been arrested for driving with alcohol impairment after causing a vehicular accident, injuring four teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17.

The accident occurred on October 16, 2014 at 8:18 pm at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Lily Avenue in Murrieta.  The injury traffic collision was caused by Mr. Long, who was driving a full-size truck, when he collided into the rear of a passenger vehicle.  The injured minors are all Murrieta Valley High School students.  The injuries were described as ranging from moderate to major.  The juveniles were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Mayor Alan Long was alone in his vehicle, and was arrested for 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code – Driving while under the influence causing injury. Mr. Long was booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
