Obama spends Veterans Day in China, Insulting Chinese

By Douglas V. Gibbs

George W. Bush was always present on Veterans Day, either in America, or thanking the troops abroad, on this important day.  Even now, Bush tears up when delivering a speech filled with "thank you" messages to our military men and women.

Like Bush, President Bill Clinton, almost every Veterans Day during his presidency, gave a speech at the National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

While Bush Sr., and Ronald Reagan, only gave a few speeches at Arlington, their military service, and appreciation for the sacrifices of the troops were well known.  Reagan's Veterans Day activities always involved spending time with some of the troops, or veterans.  Reagan's Veterans Day speeches have become legendary, and are still talked about today.

Thanking our veterans for their sacrifice is an important American tradition, and in reality a practice that is dominant in the free nations of the Western World.

“Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened.” – Billy Graham

“In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.” —Mark Twain

“Never give in — never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.” —Winston Churchill

“The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” —Patrick Henry

President Barack Obama not only never served in the military, but the community organizer has verbalized many times his contempt for the United States Military, and what it stands for.  His coffee cup salute in September of 2014 is an example of his contempt, and lack of respect, for the U.S. Military.

On Veterans Day 2014, President Barack Obama is in China.  Perhaps he couldn't get out of the necessity for his presence overseas.  Perhaps the date just so happened to fall upon Veterans Day and there was nothing he could do about it.  And perhaps his handlers planned for the anti-American President to be out of the country on the day we honor those willing to serve to protect freedom from tyrants.  It's not like he really wants to be there.  His refusal to participate in most of the extracurricular activities surrounding the event in Beijing is evidence enough of that.

The event President Obama is attending is the 21 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), an economic summit, held in Beijing, China.  All of the popular kids are there, so I suppose he had to be there, too.  His attitude, about his presence in China for the summit, I am thinking, is not that he "has" to be there, but that he chooses to, and the world leaders should be ecstatic over the reality that the great Obama was willing to grace them with his mere presence.

The Narcissist in Chief is above all of those people, and he showed us that to be his attitude when, defiant of any local customs or sense of manners, after refusing to participate in any hoopla surrounding the event, he stepped out of his limousine chomping on a piece of gum.

We are used to seeing Obama's juvenile personality, and carelessness in regards to common sense and decor, but the Chinese took his insolence very seriously, considering it to be an insult.

The assumption is that Obama's very visible gum chewing is the result of him having trouble kicking his cigarette habit, so he seems to be forced to chomp on a wad of Nicorette large enough to choke a horse.

The Chinese considered Obama's behavior to be inexcusable and insulting.  Yin Hong, a professor of journalism at Beijing’s Tsinghua University, wrote on the Sina Weibo micro-blog, “We made this meeting so luxurious, with singing and dancing, but see Obama, stepping out of his car chewing gum like an idler.”

An "impolite idler," at that.
