This imamic edict actually surprises me, as I would have thought there was no place that the sword of Allah should not go:
On of the weirdest fatwas was made by United Arab Emirates’ General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, prohibiting life on Mars. In an official statement, the authority said living on Mars was against Islam, responding to Dutch-run project, Mars One, which proclaims plans for a human colony on the red planet by 2025.
The authority’s argument was that heading to Mars would resemble a suicide given the dangers such a step could involve.
Goodness gracious, whatever happened to the Islamic "sense of adventure"? Aren't we endlessly lectured by Barack Obama that Islam was the flower of human civilization, advancement, and achievement when Christiandom was wallowing in the medieval, inquisitionary slime? I would think that the Muslims would want to beat the infidels to the Red Planet. After all, a world named after the Roman god of war would seem to be a perfect fit for the "holy warriors of Allah".
Or perhaps Islam simply prefers conquering and enslaving existing civilizations instead of having to go through the risk, toil, and drudgery of establishing and building up its own.
Exit question: Perhaps the reason Muslims don't want to go to Mars is that they've already been there....

Fatwa is merely an opinion.
