Obama’s New Anti-Gun Surgeon General

by JASmius

Meet Vivek Murthy:

NRA strongly opposes Murthy’s confirmation. In a letter to Senate leaders, NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox noted that the U.S. Surgeon General is charged with the important tasks of providing the American public with information to better inform decisions related to their health, and with directing much of the federal government’s public health efforts. In order for these roles to be carried out effectively, the public must trust that the Surgeon General’s actions and recommendations are based on empirical and scientific evidence, rather than political or ideological motives. Unfortunately, Murthy’s record of political [extreme]ism in support of radical gun control measures raises significant concerns about the likelihood he would use the office of Surgeon General to further his preexisting campaign against gun ownership.

In 2008, Dr. Murthy co-founded the organization “Doctors for Obama” in order to support the presidential campaign of then-Senator Barack Obama and his plans for health care reform. A year later, the group changed its name to “Doctors for America.”

In his capacity as president of “Doctors for America,” Dr. Murthy has offered his support for a wide array of gun control policies that have been repeatedly rejected by the American people and their elected representatives.

Sounds like the perfect Obama Surgeon General to me: Non-white, far-left, corrupt nepot, hates the U.S. Constitution - who would expect anything else?

But that's not the end of Mr. Murthy's similarities to The One:

This is not meant to be personal; in fact, I have never met Murthy. However, at just thirty-six years of age, Murthy is only a few years out of his residency and has very limited public health education and experience. I believe he is unqualified to effectively serve as the nation’s doctor.

The U.S. surgeon general is responsible for providing government leaders and the American public with the best scientific information available about how to respond to catastrophic public health events and emerging public health threats, as well as ways to improve their general health and well-being. The surgeon general also oversees the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, an elite group of more than 6,700 uniformed public health professionals whose mission is to protect, promote, and advance the health of our nation.

The surgeon general must have the skills and, more importantly, the experience, to inform the government’s leaders, educate the American public and help heal the ailing public health sector.

Someday, Murthy may very well attain the knowledge and experience to be a trusted surgeon general. However, to put him in this position so early in his career would only serve to weaken the position — and could doom Murthy to failure.

So opined Richard Carmona, SG under President Bush43 for four years - and Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate from Arizona in 2012.

So Dr. Murthy is also callow, inexperienced, and incompetent, and being meteorically elevated because of what he is rather than who he is.  Sound like anybody else we know and loathe?
