Obama Betrayal: Effort To Snatch $10 Billion From Veterans

by JASmius

Remember last year's Veteran's Administration scandal?  Over a thousand veterans, men and women who loyally served their country, unlike Bowe Bergdahl, with honor and distinction, cruelly allowed to die waiting for life-saving treatment?  Remember how VAgate exposed that the Veteran's Administration is single-payer government-dictated health care, and what that portended for ObamaCare?  Remember how Veterans Affairs Commissar Eric Shinseki was scapegoated and thrown under the bus for it, and Barack Obama vowed to fix the problem, right all the wrongs, wipe away every tear, no matter what the (heh) cost?  Because nothing was too good for America's veterans?

Well, President Honor and Sacrifice has a fresh message for America's veterans.....

.....any questions?:

[Barack] Obama and the Veterans Administration bureaucracy are already sabotaging the VA reform law passed in August. The ink is barely dry on the 8.6 million "Choice Cards" that supposedly allow vets to see a doctor outside the delay-plagued system.

Obama’s budget tries to snatch the $10 billion allocated for the Choice program and allow it to be spent however VA top administrators want. It’s a sickening betrayal.

Even worse, VA secretary Robert McDonald is telling federal lawmakers that this underhanded move will better serve "VA system priorities." That’s the problem. He’s more interested in protecting "the system" than vets. It’s all about bureaucratic turf and union jobs.

With a straight face, McDonald says it has " nothing to do with us trying to gut the Choice Card or anything like that; it was about flexibility." Flexibility for VA bureaucrats, not for ailing vets who need it. Removing the funding definitely will gut the program because the law says the Choice program expires whenever funding runs out.

At a February 2nd press briefing, VA administrators facetiously claimed that sick vets don't want to see outside physicians, and that use of the Choice Cards was "much lower" than they had expected. That’s a whopper. When asked, they couldn’t provide any specifics.

Pete Hegseth, CEO of Concerned Veterans for America, can. He reports that vets get the runaround when they call the VA for permission to use the Choice Card. "The VA is making a concerted attempt to undermine anything that looks like choice."

It's just like with any and every other Obama scandal, folks: Whatever fallout makes it through the media embargo is met with empty, platitudinous bloviations of reassurance - "Nobody's more angry than I am," "We are going to get to the bottom of this," "Let me be clear," "Make no mistake," etc., etc., etc. - leaving behind another river of vomit in which our ears are conscripted to swim laps.  Maybe a Regime apparatchik falls on his/her sword, maybe not.  Legislation is passed, which O signs to great self-congratulatory fanfare, because nothing bad, no screwup, no screwing is EVER his fault, but every good thing comes from his "benevolent" hand.  And then, after the scandal has blown over and is forgotten, The One reverts right back to original business as usual, blows off all his "deactivated" reassurances, "gets over" his "anger," flips the double bird at the country, and dares anybody to do anything about it.

In this instance, that would include the Regime's somewhat less than complete willingness to pay any price for those who have given so much for the freedom so many Americans foolishly voted away:

House Veterans Affairs Committee Chair Jeff Miller, R-FL1, dismisses the notion that the Choice money is needed elsewhere, pointing out that the VA has "left hundreds of millions in healthcare funding unspent since 2010 while thousands of vets languished on waiting lists." Not to mention that the president’s new budget proposal increases VA funding by another 7.5%. [emphases added]

Egad.  If we didn't know better, we could get the impression that Barack Hussein Obama not only doesn't give a rat's ass's damn about American veterans, but that he even has an active dislike for them - perhaps even because they loyally served, with honor and distinction, the America he loathes with every rotten fiber of his despicable being.

I do know where part of that gusher of VA funding that won't go for veterans' health care will go: The Barack Hussein Obama wing of the National Pathology Lab, where, put on prominent display decades from now, will be the two hands of The One.  Because everybody will be amazed that that many middle fingers could functionally exist on a single pair of hands.

Exit question: "Hey, hey, Obama VA, how many vets have you killed today?"
