Put the Constitution Into Action with the Constitution Association

By Douglas V. Gibbs
Learn the Constitution in Doug's Constitution Classes, and put the Constitution into Action through the CONSTITUTION ASSOCIATION!

Sitting on the couch and complaining is not an effective strategy to restore the republic. An enemy, progressivism, has taken our nation from within at all levels of government... from the national level, to the local level. Murrieta City Council Member Rick Gibbs just recently defended the leftist proposal of "pay by the mile" tax. Hemet City Council members, before this last election, were so bad most of them faced a recall election. Last year the Temecula School District defended a teacher for stopping a student from including God in her "Family Holiday Traditions" presentation. Lake Elsinore was sued for having a depiction of what looked like a praying soldier in their veteran's memorial. Canyon Lake finally returned "In God We Trust" to their City Hall. And remember it was not long ago that at the Democratic National Convention, the party actually had to vote to keep God in their platform, and when God narrowly pulled off a victory, the room roared into "boos."

Benjamin Franklin said, "Only a virtuous society are capable of freedom."

John Adams said, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

James Madison said, "A well-instructed people alone can be permanently a free people."

Thomas Jefferson said, "We in America do not have government by the majority - we have government by the majority who participate," and "The good sense of the people will always be found to be the best army. They may be led astray for a moment, but will soon correct themselves."

What are we doing about it?

Starting this week, my Constitution Classes are starting at the beginning of the Constitution.

This coming Saturday, February 7th, the Constitution Association is welcoming John Berry of the Redlands Tea Party, and Tea Party Patriots, to discuss the strategies that have made those two organizations so successful.

We will also have a strategizing session after Mr. Berry's presentation, including ideas I have learned from my research (including ideas I have learned from the California Federation of Republican Women):

- Placing ads in local media outlets for the Constitution Association regarding our organization having "Open Invitation Meetings" for new visitors and potential new members.

- Canvassing.

- Voter Registration efforts including at malls, stores, and other locations.

- Creating effective flyers.

- Programs for learning how to distribute those flyers, and alert the public about what is going on effectively.

- Membership Drives (and an end of the year prize for the Constitution Association member that brings in the most referrals).

- Creating new membership packets (including a welcome letter, new member survey, association brochures and flyers, bylaws of the group, membership directory).

- Postcard mailing program to send to members that have been away for a while to let them know they are in our thoughts and prayers.

- Strategies for seeking out new members through social media.

- Creating youth programs, such as "Junior Constitution Association Club" programs on high school campuses. Offer prizes to members of those clubs that achieve accomplishments that involve spreading the word about the Constitution, building the size of the club, and completing a Constitution Association Scavenger Hunt (such as visiting Knott's Berry Farm Independence Hall and experiencing the audio program of the Declaration of Independence, or visiting Riley Farms for reenactments of the revolutionary time period).

- Creating and handing out "Meeting Cards," which will be business card sized information cards regarding the Constitution Association.

Upcoming Constitution Classes:

The Corona Constitution Class held its first meeting of their new journey through the Constitution last Monday, with three new attendees. Today is the Temecula Constitution Class day one launch. For the first two sessions, this week and next, we will be discussing history, and basic Constitutional concepts. Then, we will kick into the Preamble. Have you been to the classes lately? Who have you invited? If you have had the excuse, "I want to wait until Doug starts from the beginning again," Here's Your Chance!

The Corona Class meets on Tuesdays, 6:00 pm for one hour at AllStar Collision, 522 Railroad Street, in Corona near the Main Street and Grand Avenue intersection.

The Temecula Class meets on Thursdays at 6:30 pm for one hour at Faith Armory, 41669 Winchester Road in Temecula, just west of the Winchester Road and Jefferson Avenue intersection.

The Corona Class is being filmed, and soon those classes will also be on YouTube (don't worry, the audience is not in the video if you are shy about such things).

Upcoming Constitution Association Meeting:

The next Constitution Association is this coming Saturday!!!

Guest Speaker John Berry is coming to share the knowledge of the Redlands Tea Party and Tea Party Patriots in how they have used strategies to grow, and influence elections. This is our chance to learn how to move to the next level.

Meeting will be Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Boston Billies, 26850 Cherry Hills Blvd., Menifee, CA 92586. Check in at 5:00 pm, meeting begins at 5:30 pm.

Invite friends, this will be more than a meeting. . . it will be a strategy session.

Added note: I need volunteers to help with creating the structure of this organization. It is time to take the next step. I need legal help, ideas for the membership design, and folks to take charge with helping perform certain tasks, including, but not limited to: organizing events (Diana has shown interest, but she will need help), a Voter Registration Team, organizing and carrying out canvassing efforts, treasurer, marketing and promotion, meeting planning, secretary for keeping notes of meetings, website assistance, planning, printing design ideas for brochures and flyers, videographer (Chris has already shown interest), and someone helping me book guest speakers and organizing other programming.

2016 is right around the corner. Full throttle is necessary NOW.
