Cornell Rolls Out The Red Carpet For ISIS

by JASmius

Would a college campus allow a mass murderer to come market his/her message to the student body? Or how about a serial rapist?  Answer: It would depend on whether the university's "guest" was a member of the "right" ideological tribe.  If there were still such a thing as Nazis, they absolutely would not; and, of course, they attribute "Nazism" to every member of the "wrong" ideological tribe, which is why campus conservative speakers are physically attacked and recovering Muzzies like Ayaan Hirsi Ali are barred from campii altogether.  But American academia loves the Castros, for example, and former Iranian mullahgarchic frontman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad always had a full college lecture schedule when he came to the UN every September.

This more than explains Cornell University Assistant Dean Joseph Scaffido's cordial invitation to Caliph al-Baghdadi and his "community":

A video sting operation shows Cornell’s assistant dean for students, Joseph Scaffido, agreeing to everything suggested by an undercover muckraker posing as a Moroccan student.

Scaffido casually endorses inviting an ISIS “freedom fighter’’ to conduct a “training camp” for students at the upstate Ithaca campus — bizarrely likening the activity to a sports camp.

Is it OK to bring a humanitarian pro-“Islamic State Iraq and Syria” group on campus, the undercover for conservative activist James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas asks.

"Humanitarian ISIS group"; I don't know how O'Keefe managed to get those words out without drowning in gagging laughter.

Sure, Scaffido says in the recorded March 16th meeting.

Scaffido doesn’t even blink an eye when the undercover asks about providing material support for terrorists — “care packages, whether it be food, water, electronics.” How about supporting Hamas?

No problem at all, Scaffido said.

Looking at it from Scaffido's point of view - no mean - and a very mentally hazardous - feat, I might add - I can see an out for embracing Hamas, because their foil is Israel, and all leftwingnuts are Jew-haters (yes, even leftwingnut Jews).  But I honestly don't understand the warm welcome for ISIS even on the Left's own deranged terms.  Who or what is their foil?  They're going after everybody - Jews, Christians, pagans, Shiite Muslims.  They rape and torture and murder and destroy.  Nothing we know of them indicates they're remotely capable of "humanitarianism".  And, of course, they brutally oppress women and homosexuals.  So what's the justification hook here?  I don't get it.

The best I can theorize is that Scaffido thought he was talking to a Muslim, and like the big, fatass dhimmi he is, he told this "Muslim" what he thought he wanted to hear.  In other words, he was patronizing him.  And yet also telling his "Muslim" audience of one what his own multiculti ideology demanded that he say, because Islamic Fundamentalists are part of the "right" ideological tribe.

I'd be interesting to see O'Keefe go back there posing as an evangelical Christian and ask the equivalent questions and see how long it would take for Scaffido to call the campus cops.  My guess would be inside of five minutes.
