....of old age while his avalanche of appeals wind their way stately through the State and federal courts. But then, as I observed six weeks ago, that he was even convicted on a single charge was a miracle.
But a death sentence? In Massachusetts? That's bigger than the parting of the Red Sea itself:
After over fourteen hours of deliberation spanning over the course of three days, the jury has reached a verdict in the case of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev… The verdict ‘death by lethal injection.’...
According to Eric Levenson of boston.com, the case will “automatically be appealed to a higher federal court. That would begin a series of appeals that could take years to resolve.”
"Could" (heh). But still.
Was the alternative sentence - life at federal "Supermax" in Colorado - worse for a jihadist who worships death? That's debatable, although it would definitely be worse than where young Mr. Tsarnaev is headed. But if the punishment should fit the crime....
Never mind. Even a lethal injection he's highly unlikely to ever receive wouldn't fit that bill. Death by explosion, though.....
