Obama/Lynch DOJ Nationalizes Cleveland Police Department

by JASmius

BREAKING: I was wrong.  I know, I know, I was astonished too.  Astonishingly, this isn't the first time this sort of thing as happened, but it's sufficiently infrequent that every time it does, it still comes as a shock.

The solace in this instance is that I wasn't entirely wrong to speculate that the Obama White House, through the Lynch Commissariat of Injustice, Revenge & Coverup, has reasoned that the Black Klan is more politically useful to them right now than the militarization of local law enforcement as part of O's "civilian national security force".  My error was to think that this was an either/or proposition, instead of being all part of the same process.

The template has been revealed - or perhaps confirmed - in Cleveland:

The city of Cleveland, Ohio, has reached a settlement with the Justice Department over charges of police brutality, according to the New York Times.

The news comes as hundreds took to the streets to protest a judge’s decision not to convict a white police officer in the 2012 fatal shootings of an unarmed black couple. On Saturday, Officer Michael Brelo was cleared in the killing of Timothy Russell, 43, and Malissa Williams, 30, as they sat in their car

The settlement, the details of which were unknown, could be announced Tuesday, according to the Times. In December, Attorney General Eric Holder said there was reasonable cause to believe that the Cleveland Division of Police engaged in a pattern of excessive force.

After an investigation of nearly six hundred “troubling, high-profile use of force incidents” between 2010 and 2013, “we determined that there is reasonable cause to believe that the Cleveland division of public police engages in a pattern and practice of using excessive force,” Holder said in December.

There's nothing new or novel about this, as the Regime has landed with both feet on the cops in Baltimore and New York City and Ferguson as well.  And that, of course, is what's known as a pattern, the dots of which are not difficult to connect:

Under the new arrangement, federal law enforcement officials would monitor the agency’s practices, a government official briefed on the arrangement told the Los Angeles Times.

The Justice Department’s report, released in December, found an alarming number of shortcomings in the Ohio city’s police force. Investigators found a pattern of “unnecessary and excessive use of deadly force,” along with the overuse of less lethal force like tasers. It also uncovered a pattern in which excessive force was applied against mentally ill people or those in crisis, including instances where officers were doing a welfare check. [emphasis added]

If the Brelo/Russell/Williams incident is any indication, the Cleveland PD does, indeed, have a lot of problems.  Or it did.  But you would think this could be handled at the local level, or at most by the State of Ohio.  But what business to the feds have butting in?  They don't have any jurisdiction there, constitutional or otherwise.

But that tragedy is just the pretext, the wedge that gets the Regime in the door.  And now the Cleveland PD, just as their Ferguson and Baltimore counterparts (Gotham's communist mayor, Bill de Blasio, is carrying out the White House's orders in NYC), effectively reports to Loretta Lynch, and must do her bidding - whatever that happens to be.

In short, and unless I've been hinting around the edges of the truth instead of stating it bigly, boldly, and baldly, DHS's arming of local police departments around the country with military surplus was, in essence, to get forces and supplies deployed and in place first; now the Regime is establishing the precedent of essentially federalizing local law enforcement.  They've got St. Louis, New York City, Baltimore, and now Cleveland in hand; once they have effective direct control over every big city police department, the only thing a declaration of national martial law would await is the final triggering event.

The one caveat I see in this is time.  If martial law is the path to formalizing Barack Obama's dictatorship, doing so via the vehicle of civil upheaval by itself would seem to take longer than he would have left in his conventional second term.  That's why I still believe he needs a bookend crisis to exploit - another financial panic, or a cataclysmic jihadist attack here at home.

But if and when either or both materialize, the White House will be ready.  Indeed, they'll have to be, for this will be their make-or-break opportunity.

If you haven't been real big on patriotic prayer, now would be an excellent time to start.
