Paulnuts Smear Ted Cruz As "Capitulating Canadian"

by JASmius

As far as I'm concerned, Rand Paul is a Democrat mole of ever-diminishing secrecy planted in the GOP field to sew chaos and discord on the Right and ensure that the squishiest, most establishmentarian RINO cruises to the nomination, tacks to the center, and goes down to another crushing, demoralizing defeat next November.  Which the ludicrously bloated herd of "hopefuls" is pretty much doing already, but I guess Rand just can't help himself.

And his supporters, it seems, are even worse:

A super PAC backing Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is pulling no punches with the first attack ad of the 2016 GOP presidential primary, complete with fire-breathing bald eagles and slams of Senators Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham for their stances on government surveillance.

Mimicking the aggressive style of a wrestling event promo, the one-minute spot teases the Senate debate Sunday (“Sunday! Sunday!”) over expiring portions of the Patriot Act as the “greatest brawl for liberty of the century.”

Which is, itself, one of the greatest canards of this, or any, century.

It also needles Obama’s “so-called conservative accomplices,” Cruz (R-TX) and Graham (R-SC). Cruz, referred to by the super PAC as the “capitulating Canadian” as a dig against the fact that the GOP candidate was born in the country, supports a compromise bill called the USA Freedom Act.

Which itself guts the Patriot Act but doesn't abolish it outright.  And that's not good enough for the man who regards the Fourth Amendment like the Polack who, having walked in on his wife cheating on him with another guy, pulls out a gun, points it against his own temple and yells, "After I do myself, you're next!"

That's why this ad fits right in with Rand's "GOP hawks created ISIS" motif - the conflation of monster truck rallies and pro wrestling promos, the cheesy graphics and sound effects and explosions, the absurd linking of Ted Cruz with Barack Obama, and the silly birtheresque ball-shot about the former's birth in Canada.  Leaving the obvious question: To whom is Senator Cruz "capitulating"?  This is the man who rode ObamaCare Defundageddon straight into the ground almost two years ago causing as much obnoxious fratricidal collateral damage as he could along the way.  And as much totally-earned criticism as I directed in Senator Cruz's direction at the time, the one thing you can never say about the man is that he's ever "capitulated" on anything.

It'll be interesting to see if Senator Paul is asked for comment on this hit ad, and if so, whether he has the sense to at least say "no comment," or purports to disavow it.  My guess is he won't be asked, and he'll remain silent as a tomb, nodding and smirking in pleased satisfaction.

Just like any Democrat would.
