Saudi King Snubs Obama's Mideast Summit Over Iran Deal

by JASmius

Last Wednesday, the Obama White House announced a summit, to be held at Camp David, to "re-engage" with our former Arab allies in the Middle East at which will be proposed the joint construction of a "common missile shield" against the "potential" nuclear threat from the Islamic Empire of Iran.

About this outwardly inexplicable about-face and implicit concession that O has screwed up, well, "royally" by all but nuclearly arming the mullahs, I observed:

But still....why? The whole point of Obama's Middle East policy, as they've openly boasted, is to anoint Iran the regional hegemon and (junior) "partner" with them. All the heretofore quasi-allied Sunni Gulf states and emirates were heaved overboard. So why pretend to reverse course and "re-engage" with them now?

My best guess? O doesn't want the Saudis to obtain their own nukes from Pakistan so that the mullahs maintain their regional nuclear semi-monopoly and the Israelis remain fully exposed. Which suggests that this so-called missile "shield" will be woefully inadequate to its purported task by design. Anything to minimize the possibility of Tehran regional, and eventually global, ambitions from being thwarted.

Will Riyadh buy that swindle? I wouldn't, if I were them.

Looks like King Salman took my advice:

Saudi Arabia's King Salman will not attend a Camp David summit of U.S. and allied Arab leaders, his foreign minister, Adel al-Jubeir, said Sunday.

The New York Times described the king's decision not to attend as an "apparent" signal of his displeasure with the United States over Iran, a growing regional enemy to Saudi Arabia.

The Associated Press, however, reported that the White House did not take Salman's decision to skip the summit as a sign of any substantial disagreement with the United States.

"If one wants to snub you, they let you know it in different ways," an unnamed administration official told the Times.

Yeah - like snubbing a direct invitation to meet with the pro-Iranian POTUS one-on-one a day before the Camp David summit even begins.  And, of course, the Obamedia participated in that lame spin instead of giving it the vicious ridicule it deserved, going so far as to play up Obama's "genius" by setting up an opportunity to "take the measure" of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi defense minister.  This after White House spokesdick Josh Ernest was boasting of the Obama-Salman meeting as recently as last Friday.

But for anybody who bothers to pay attention, this is a clear indication that the Saudis do not trust Obama and are sending a low-level delegation to this summit at all in order to reconnoiter just how enthusiastic an ally of the mullahs the Obama Regime has become.  And it is a clear indication of just how effectively the Obama Doctrine....

....has been implemented.
