We on the Right all love Trey Gowdy. The Representative of South Carolina's Fourth Congressional District is a classic Palmetto State "Fire-Eater," a patriotic, constitutionalist firebrand who doesn't play patty-cake with the other side, but tells it like it is and lets them have it with both barrels on a regular basis.
But even he has two handicaps: (1) He's a Republican, and thus has no appetite for power nor any ability to wield it; and (2) Republicans have no power to wield in any case, despite having large majorities in both houses of Congress, because Barack Obama has gutted the legislative branch of the federal government of any clout it ever had.
Which helps explain why the Empress is dismissing the subpoena of the Chairman of the House Select Committee On Benghazi that she show up and testify regarding Benghazi and her safely deleted emails:
Hillary Clinton is refusing to testify twice before the House panel investigating the 2012 attacks on the U.S. government compound in Benghazi, Libya.
Clinton is willing to testify once before the House Select Committee on Benghazi, but her attorney says she will not meet the panel’s demand to come before it twice. He also criticized the panel for asking Clinton to appear once just to examine her use of a private email account while secretary of State.
“Respectfully, there is no basis, logic, or precedent for such an unusual request,” David Kendall said Monday in a letter to Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC4), the select committee’s chairman.
“The secretary is fully prepared to stay for the duration of the committee’s questions on the day she appears,” he adds.
The document is a response to a summons Gowdy made late last month.
There are two possible outcomes to this impasse: Either (1) Mrs. Clinton blows off Gowdy, humiliating him, or (2) Her Nib deigns to show up and patronize his select committee with her standard evasions and mendacities. Because, of course, she's entitled to defy subpoenas and commit perjury to her heart's content, and there's not a damn thing Trey Gowdy can do about it.
This is what happens in a banana "republic" that doesn't realize that's what it's degenerated into: substance rules, and form cluelessly never catches up.
Although I think Chairman Gowdy is aware of his own impotence, which makes his perseverance equal parts inspiring and pathetic.
Question is, do and will Tea Partiers ever grasp it as well?

Just as many of these other R's as KrisAnne Hall points out in many of her shows. That they have all bark and no bite in carrying out their Constitutionally delegated duties with the way they send letters and interview with dog & pony shows with nothing coming of them.
