Praying Bremerton, WA High School Football Coach Suspended

by JASmius

Praying to God The Father through God The Son by the power of God The Holy Spirit, of course.  If Joe Kennedy had been praying to Barack Obama or Allah or the Great Bird Of The Galaxy or pretty much ANY false god, the Bremerton, Washington, School District would have been just fine with it:

Joe Kennedy, who coaches football at Bremerton High School in Washington, has been suspended for praying after a Friday night football game that Satanists had threatened to protest.

Which, I'm guessing, included threats to ritualistically offer human sacrifices to the devil of Coach Kennedy and any player to dared join him in speaking to the one and only Living God.  Otherwise known among Satanist football fans as "tailgating".

A student had invited the Satanic Temple of Seattle....

The Hellflaming Emerald City.  It's a wonder the Lombardi Trophy hasn't melted yet.

....to attend the game to protest the school’s tolerance....

Which has been astonishing enough, but this also shows how easy it is to get such tolerance - or, more accurately, obliviosness - shut down with extreme prejudice.

....of the coach’s prayer, and to force the Bremerton School District to "clarify" its policy.

Upon penalty of being offered as a human sacrifice at the Seattle Satanic Temple, not doubt.

Here is the most likely reason why Coach Kennedy's on-field prayers - which he's been doing for the past seven years - have been seen as no big deal:

Although Kennedy does not instruct or encourage any students to join him when he prays, the school board had ordered him never again to pray in public.

Which he has, God bless him and praise the LORD for the courage, refused to do, because that is, among other outrageous things, a flagrant violation of his....well, no, technically it doesn't violate Coach Kennedy's First Amendment right to freedom of religion and religious expression because it's the local school district trampling on those rights, not the federal government.  And the Washington Constitution is no help:

SECTION 11 RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. Absolute freedom of conscience in all matters of religious sentiment, belief and worship, shall be guaranteed to every individual, and no one shall be molested or disturbed in person or property on account of religion; but the liberty of conscience hereby secured shall not be so construed as to excuse acts of licentiousness or justify practices inconsistent with the peace and safety of the State.

That would cover the Satanic human sacrifices under the rubric of Coach Kennedy's voluntary on-field prayers "provoking" them.

No public money or property shall be appropriated for or applied to any religious worship, exercise or instruction, or the support of any religious establishment: PROVIDED, HOWEVER, That this article shall not be so construed as to forbid the employment by the State of a chaplain for such of the State custodial, correctional, and mental institutions, or by a county's or public hospital district's hospital, health care facility, or hospice, as in the discretion of the legislature may seem justified. No religious qualification shall be required for any public office or employment, nor shall any person be incompetent as a witness or juror, in consequence of his opinion on matters of religion, nor be questioned in any court of justice touching his religious belief to affect the weight of his testimony. [emphases added]

Aaaaaaand that would cover Coach Kennedy's school district salary.  So, legally and constitutionally, because of the State in which he lives, he quite literally has no legal leg on which to stand, because the Seattle Satanic Temple has chopped them off at the "invitation" of a single intolerant, Christ-hating student.

And yet he's taking a stand anyway, much like the legendary Antipas of Pergamum, who was given the choice by his Roman persecutors of renouncing Christ and bowing down to Caesar as Lord or being roasted to death inside a bull-shaped metal spit.  Antipas held his ground for his faith, and one of his executioners is said to have exclaimed, "Antipas, don't you know that you're against the whole world?"  Antipas replied, "Then Antipas is against the whole world!"

Coach Kennedy's career, not his life, is about to be terminated - for now.  The amazing thing to me is that his suspension is with pay.  I'd have thought they'd have fired his ass already.

Remember how I told y'all that Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis wouldn't be the first Christian to fall in the looming Great Persecution?  We all had better prepare ourselves for the horrors to come.

Exit thought: Given that Super Bowl Champion Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson leads on-field prayers and wears his Christian faith on his sleeve, I'd have thought that might have made such public religious displays "cool" - especially after last season's NFC Championship Game.

Maybe RW3 should be suspended?  I can't wait for the Seattle Satanic Temple to try that.
