Hillary Clinton Snubs MoveOn.org

by JASmius

Let the overconfident, complacent triangulation begin!

Hillary Clinton declined to participate in a virtual presidential candidates’ forum hosted by MoveOn.org, snubbing one of the largest [communist] groups that claims eight million members.

All three Democrat candidates were invited to participate in the forum, which involved the candidates answering questions submitted by MoveOn members via video, but only Senator Bernie Sanders and former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley agreed. Video of their answers was released Tuesday afternoon.

“It’s a shame that [Mrs.] Clinton declined to participate in the MoveOn member forum,” said Anna Galland, the executive director of MoveOn.org Civic Action, in a statement to MSNBC. “She missed an opportunity to speak directly to and energize the [communist] base she’ll need in her corner not just to win the nomination but also the general election, if she is the party’s nominee.”

For no particular or discernable reason, Herself seems to have decided that Weekend Bernie is no longer a threat to her, and it's time to start moving to the center.  And answering questions submitted by Nutrooters and Occupiers and Obamunist True Believers in a public setting that would inevitably get out to the press is fundamentally incompatible with that tactic if she's serious about it.  If she said something like she did eight years ago....

“Moveon.org endorsed [Senator Barack Obama] — which is like a gusher of money that never seems to slow down,” [Mrs.] Clinton said to a meeting of donors. “We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the [extrem]ist base of the Democrat Party. MoveOn didn’t even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that’s what we’re dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it’s primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don’t agree with them. They know I don’t agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me.”

....it would undo all the hard-left pandering she's been doing all year long and confirm everything the Nutroots have always believed about her as being a "DINO," a phony, and a Wall Street lapbitch.  Whereas if she continued the hard-left pandering....well, that has to stop at some point if she's to be even remotely competitive in a general campaign (which, in the absence of Donald Trump on the other side, she won't be).  And she's provided the GOP with a treasure trove of attack ad fodder as it is, and that doesn't even touch on all her Benghazigate/Clinton Foundation corruption/Emailgate scandal baggage.

Also, we have to remember that the more visible Hillary Clinton is, the lower her polling sinks.  Her campaign has to be the fictional image it paints of her, not the fleshy, sagging, fatassed, grating, aggravating, arrogant, Nurse Ratchetesque reality.  If she could get away with it, she'd run a Benjamin Harrison-like "front porch campaign" where she never made ANY public appearances and Bill would do all the campaigning.  As it is, he is now and will be doing most of it.

But one thing Team Empress can do is not put her in no-win situations.  And that's what participating in the MoveOn.org candidates' forum would have been.
