Obama Kills Keystone XL Pipeline

by JASmius

Of course, he killed Keystone XL years ago.  This is more like somebody finally finding the body and the murder weapon with his fingerprints all over it:

The Obama administration will reject the Keystone XL oil pipeline that has divided petroleum interests and environmentalists for more than seven years after [Commissar] of State John Kerry concluded it threatens national security, CNN reports. [emphasis added]

By enhancing America's energy independence and reducing our dependence on foreign oil from hostile sources.  That's really the rationale they're going to use?  Christ on a crutch, why don't they make Roland Emmerich Commissar of Climate and be done with it?

Barack Obama and Kerry, who was charged with making a recommendation on the controversial project, were meeting Friday morning ahead of public remarks by Obama at 11:45 a.m.

Keystone XL would have linked existing pipeline networks in Canada and the United States to bring more than 800,000 barrels per day of heavy crude oil and diluted bitumen from Alberta's oil sands to refineries in Illinois and, eventually, the Gulf of Mexico coast.

It would also have created tens or hundreds of thousands of new, real, honest-to-goodness, well-paying, private sector jobs in a permanently depressed economy that desperately needs them.  But Gaia knows we wouldn't want anything like THAT to happen, right?  Far better to wallow in apocalyptic myths and not even pseudo-scientific nonsense about climatological annihilation fantasies that not only aren't happening, but can't, all in service to the unendingly corrupt, tyrannical empowerment of the communist dictator residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

But again, this has been the case for years.  O is just taking advantage of Conservative Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's fall to finally make official what has been the case all along.

Exit question: If there's a GOP president in the White House year after next, how will the next chapter of the Keystone XL saga play out with Obamunist Justin Trudeau calling the shots in Ottawa?  Especially one that promised to "fight for Keystone XL" once it was crippled with an avalanche of "environmental safeguard" regulations?
