California's New Laws Series: Earthquake Detection

Finally, a law on the books that I don't completely have a problem with. . . except that we are broke.  With us spending the money we are spending on a bullet train, how are we going to pump money into the earthquake early warning system?

Oh, wait, that's right, they plan to tax us per mile we drive.

Good intention, but there is no money for it.
