Two More "Orphaned" Hellfire Missiles

by JASmius

Maybe I'm getting along in years, and the memory isn't all that it used to be, but I can't ever remember a time when U.S. military ordnance started showing up in the hands of enemy powers and on civilian flights headed for random destinations:

Serbia’s authorities are investigating reports that a cargo package bound for the U.S. containing two missiles with explosive warheads was found on a passenger flight from Lebanon to Serbia.

N1 television said the package with two guided armor-piercing missiles was discovered Saturday by a sniffer dog after an Air Serbia flight from Beirut landed at Belgrade airport.

Serbian media say documents listed the final destination for the AGM-114 Hellfire missiles as Portland, Oregon. The American-made projectiles can be fired from air, sea or ground platforms.

Here we are, right back in the same quandary: Is the Obama Regime so hopelessly, haplessly incompetent that they can't keep track of anything, and prioritize security over military ordnance way lower than it should be, such that Hellfire missiles are incontinently distributed will-nilly all over the world without the Obamagon's knowledge or giving a damn about it?  Does that apply to ALL weapons, in which case we should expect M1A1 Abrams battle tanks to start popping up on used car lots? (We don't have to worry about our nukes, because The One has already shipped them all to Tehran)  Or is the White House deliberately and clandestinely arming jihadist networks and sleeper cells with our military surplus (remember that Obama canceled the Hellfire missile program two years ago)?

Can you think of any other plausible reason why two Hellfires were being shipped from the Middle East to the Weird Rose City?  Evidently nobody else can, either:

Why Hellfire missiles, and why Portland, Oregon? One has to wonder why, of all places, these missiles would be headed to the peace-loving community of Portland. KGW News reports that the FBI has nearly seventy active terrorism cases in Portland. There is a wide range of terrorist motivations, including ISIS terrorist recruits, anti-government extremists, and eco-terrorists. FBI Special Agent Gregory Bretzing told KGW back in December 2015 that ISIS was actively attempting to recruit susceptible people in Oregon, as well as other States.

Would Hellfire missiles have been received by local terrorists in Portland, Oregon? Bretzing cited four major terrorist busts that took place in Oregon since 1999. Hopefully, a fifth arrest will spring from the investigation of where, exactly, that package was going.

Hopefully.  Even more hopefully, that chain can be traced back to its source, which may ultimately be 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

If you were looking for a real-life example of the cynical phrase, "hope springs eternal," there you go.
