Border Crisis 2016 Silently Tsunami-ing

by JASmius

If tens or hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens pour across the former border and no media outlet covers it, are they here at all?:

New figures from the Obama administration show the rate of illegal [alien]s being detained at the Mexican border is on the rise among families and unaccompanied minors.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection data show that 27,754 children aged seventeen and under have been apprehended at the border this year, up from 15,616 in all of 2015. Two years ago, the total figure was 28,579.

Further, 32,117 members of families have been nabbed at the border this year — significantly higher than the 2014 (19,830) and 2015 (13,913) totals.

Those numbers are, of course, only a bare, vague barometer of the ones that truly matter, and are by definition unknowable: How many illegals have poured across the former border that were NOT apprehended, which almost has to be far larger in magnitude given that the Obama Regime has functionally shut down the Border Patrol.

But this "surge" can't be blamed solely on The One.  Remember one of my pet adages that "life is all about incentives"?  Well....:

One possible reason for the surge in border numbers are Donald Trump's repeated calls for a tighter border.

Which he'd never get through a Democrat Senate, other than as an instantly ignored and disposable footnote of the Obamnesty-enacting "comprehensive immigration reform" bill that will be coming a year from now.  But then, hey, Trump is about nothing if not "the art of the deal"....with Democrats.  Right?

This illegal, though, at least fits the description of them that el señor de los tugurios millonario made infamous:

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have arrested an [illegal alien] from Mexico [still] living in Utah with two State sexual assault convictions and two federal immigration convictions.

[T]hirty-seven-year-old Sergio Amador-Olive was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender. He was also listed by ICE as a priority for deportation given that he is in the country illegally and has multiple State and federal convictions.

Oh, pish-posh, he sounds like the paragon of the "socially just" Obama voter, actually.

“By removing criminal aliens like Amador-Olive from the streets and ultimately from the country, ICE has a profound and positive impact on overall public safety,” said Daniel Bible, field office director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Salt Lake City, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. “This specific case also shows that there are significant consequences to criminal aliens who illegally re-enter the United States after they are deported.”

What it suggests to me is that this is one of the White House's periodic token "get tough" actions to bleed off public pressure for restoring the border, which they do and will otherwise ignore.  Again, the question isn't the capturing of Sergio Amador-Olive, but how many others just like him have been deliberately allowed to slip through the net?

If Señor Olive was still in the country a year from now, I'm sure a President Trump would have a groundskeeping job waiting for him at the White House, or maybe one of his Florida resorts.  He's "big-hearted" that way.

UPDATE: ObamaCare for illegals?  Why not?  Why should they come here in contravention of our laws and not have to take the same buggering as the rest of us?:

[California] Democrat [State] Senator Ricardo Lara has proposed a bill that would allow [illegal alien]s to buy health care plans from Covered California, the State's ObamaCare [cartel].

[Alien]s living illegally in the U.S. are not eligible for Medicaid and are not allowed to buy ObamaCare health plans from the federal cartel or any State [cartel].

According to a report in the Daily Beast, Lara's bill would allow them to buy the plans, but they wouldn't get federal help to do it. Critics of Lara's plan say that's a major drawback to the bill, because [illegal alien]s wouldn't be able to afford the plans without federal assistance.

Anybody who thinks that pen-stroke hasn't already been made, stand on your head.
