Gun control kills lives. The criminal element does not follow the law. Making laws limiting gun rights only takes away gun rights from law-abiding citizens. If these bills continue to work their way through, and California truly becomes more hostile to gun owners, the State will lose revenue, tax payers, and representation in the House of Representatives. As the State with the third most gun owners in the country, the exodus out of the State of California will be devastating.
The anti-gun bills working their way through the California legislature are ridiculous and dangerous. The "bullet button" bill, for example will make it harder for the law abiding citizen to reload, but not for those who refuse to abide by the law. Advantage: criminal shooter. Like Chicago, with more gun control we will see the murder rate go up, and law abiding citizens move out of the State. Why? The criminal element will continue to be armed, but they will be more emboldened because the likelihood of their victims being able to fight back is going down fast with the new legislation.
The bills still have to go to the assembly, but in both Houses of the State legislature the protesting Republicans are vastly outnumbered. In the past, however, Governor Brown has vetoed some of the more egregious gun control bills, so we can only hope for now that he does the same. Gavin Newsom, who will be running for governor in 2018, will not be so reasonable.
Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León, D-Los Angeles, says he's happy these bills are getting through the legislature, rather than waiting for measures by Newsom that will be on the ballot in November. De León says he doesn't trust the voters to do the right thing so the government must force this through despite what the voters want, indicating he felt the Capitol is the best place to craft tighter rules for gun owners -- not the ballot box.
"Given the complexity of firearms policy, I believe the legislative process is the most responsible path forward," said de León. "We owe it the voters to tackle tough issues and not force them to do our jobs for us."
Think about that for a moment. The Democrats are saying that it doesn't matter what the people want, it is the job of government to impel their ideological will upon the people, and to make sure they do it at the legislative level just in case the people disagree with the will of the ruling elite.
de León went after ammunition in 2009, but a judge later ruled that its definition of ammunition was too vague to enforce.
De León's Senate Bill 1235 and Assembly Bill 156, authored by Assemblyman Kevin McCarty, D-Sacramento, seek to more effectively establish a definition for ammunition so their laws can withstand legal challenges in a better manner than before.
The Senate approved both measures on a 24-15 vote despite Republican protests that the bills and other pieces of the package trample on Californians' God-given right to keep and bear arms. Republicans argued that the proposed bills will create more red tape for law-abiding gun owners and will do little to reduce violent crime.
Sen. Jeff Stone, R-Riverside called SB 1446 especially "egregious" because it allows for "the incremental beginning" of the government's ability to confiscate weapons. Gun owners who have studied history and researched political systems understand that one truth always emerges when this kind of gun control begins to take root. Stronger gun control measures always ultimately leads to confiscation. When the Democrats say they are not interested in confiscation, they are lying.
SB 1446 that Jeff Stone spoke out so strongly against, if signed by Governor Brown, would require, beginning July 1, 2017, owners of magazines of more than 10 rounds to sell them, move them out of State or turn them in.
"I'm going to quote Adolf Hitler," he said, to gasps in the Senate chamber. "To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens." How dare he compare the Democrats to Hitler, even though their platform is closer to Adolf's than it is to anything one would consider American - that is sooooo offensive. First question: Did the Democrats, after they gasped, run to a safe zone and stick their thumbs into their mouths?
The list of gun control bills working their way through the California legislature that would receive the blessings of every totalitarian dictator in history (from Hitler to Stalin to Mao to Lenin to Napoleon to King George) includes:
· Senate Bill 1235, authored by Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León, D-Los Angeles, and Assembly Bill 156, written by Assemblyman Kevin McCarty, D-Sacramento, would regulate the sale of ammunition; requiring registration and background checks for the purchase of ammunition. This one alone has me seriously considering leaving the State of California. By the time this is all over, California will likely only consist of Hollywood liberals, homosexuals, hardcore environmentalists, and illegal aliens.
· SB 880, authored by Sens. Isadore Hall, D-South Bay, and Steve Glazer, D-Walnut Creek, and AB 1135, authored by Assemblymen Marc Levine, D-Marin County, and Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, would effectively prohibit "bullet buttons" that make it easy to detach magazines - that way it takes the legal law-abiding citizen longer to remove an empty magazine than the criminal he's facing (who will still have a bullet button because criminals do not follow the law) ensuring the odds for survival of the law-abiding citizen to plunge to near zero. Advantage: Criminal. Death toll of law-abiding citizens: certain to rise.
· SB 1446, would restrict possession of ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. It's authored by Sen. Loni Hancock, D-Berkeley. So, you have less rounds, and no bullet button. Good luck surviving if the mentally deranged shooter who wants to kill you has disregarded the law. I thought magazines were already limited to a ridiculously low number? A liberal Democrat once asked me, "Why do you need more than ten rounds in a magazine?" I responded, "Just in case there are more than ten anti-gun government agents at my door demanding confiscation." He gasped. "You are willing to shoot at government employees?" "Yeah," I said. "They would be breaking the law. As a constitutional originalist, the Laws of Nature of Nature's God that says my right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed is the law of the land - not some leftist agenda designed to take away from me my freedoms."
· SB 1407, authored by de León, and AB 857, authored by Assemblyman Jim Cooper, D-Elk Grove, aim to eliminate the proliferation of so-called "ghost guns," which are manufactured at home and don't carry serial numbers. Does it cover pipes and rocks used to strike the round that is in the pipe? What's next? A law outlawing black powder guns? Antiques? Pictures of guns? Pieces of pizza eaten in a manner that the food resembles a gun? Shall I be arrested for saying the word 'gun'?"
· SB 894, authored by Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson, D-Santa Barbara, requires the reporting of a lost or stolen gun within five days. Seems reasonable on the surface. But, I must ask, "does the owner get penalized for losing their gun?" Perhaps the gun owner, after losing the gun, becomes marked as irresponsible and not allowed to buy a gun in the future. As a note, most of the guns used by criminals aren't stolen from law-abiding citizens. They walk across the porous national border. Besides, why should I have to tell government I own a gun in the first place? It's none of their business. "Shall not be infringed" is a pretty definitive term.
· AB 1176, authored by Cooper, repeals a provision of 2014's Proposition 47 and reverts gun theft and buying a stolen gun, regardless of value, to a felony and "wobbler," respectively. Next? They will eventually make buying a gun at all a felony too, after they confiscate all of them and make law-abiding citizens who refuse to relinquish their personal privately owned firearms "outlaws."
· AB 1511, authored by Assemblyman Miguel Santiago, D-Los Angeles, limits the lending of guns to family members who have not completed background checks. Really? So, we are out in the woods hunting. "Hey, cousin Doug, can I check out your gun. Looks nice." "Have you gotten your background check, yet, for this gun?" Do you really think the criminally minded will abide by this law? Remember, they are criminals because THEY DON'T FOLLOW THE LAW.
· SB 1006, authored by Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, establishes a Firearm Violence Research Center at the University of California. You know, so they can do studies and then manipulate the findings like Climate Change scientists do. We need Berkeley liberals studying firearms violence like we need a hole in the head. And now that I think about it, how is the deeply in debt State of California going to fund such a research center? All of the money is tied up in Governor Brown's train to nowhere project, isn't it?
My message to the California Democrats behind the madness of totalitarian gun control? Number one, when the killing begins as a result of your idiotic laws, the blood is on your hands. Second, I have a special finger gesture designed just for you. Third, let the exodus begin.
