House Bush Goes #NeverTrump

by JASmius

Say what you will about them, but the Bush clan has an abundance of humility and class.  And by refusing to sully themselves by giving their blessing to Trump, it shows that they have standards and even some principles as well:

George W. Bush and his father, George H. W. Bush, will be sitting out the presidential election and have no plans to endorse Donald Trump, a spokesman said on Wednesday.

The Washington Post reported that it is the first time in five presidential election cycles that Bush41 is not endorsing the Republican nominee.

A spokesman for his son, Bush43, made a statement Wednesday evening after Ohio Governor John Kasich followed U.S. Senator Ted Cruz to the exit, noted the Guardian. "President George W. Bush does not plan to participate in or comment on the presidential campaign," said the spokesman for the two-term president before Barack Obama.

Jim McGrath, spokesman for George H. W. Bush, told the Guardian that the elder Bush has stepped away from politics.

"At age ninety-one, President Bush is retired from politics," McGrath said. "He naturally did a few things to help Jeb, but those were the 'exceptions that proved the rule.'"

Why would the Bushies not consider The Donald persona non grata after his disgusting 9/11 trutherism against Dubya and lampooning of Barbara Bush?  It's not like either of them or Jeb have any party obligations that would compel them to go through the motions of mouthing a tacit support they don't hold.  They're footloose and fancy-free to tell Captain Combover to do any number of anatomically-impossible things....

Instead, they are just dispensing their frosty silence.

Not that that matters a whit to TrumpWorld or its ant colony of political contagion, of course.  They'd probably say they don't want their "low-energy" support anyway, even though they're going to need all the support they can get.

But I can't help but think that the sight of House Bush symbolically bending the knee to, and kissing the ring of, King BS isn't something that Trump doesn't at some level crave.  That insecure "Alpha male" dominance thing and all that.

He'll manage.
