Swamp Leaks to Washington Post

By Douglas V. Gibbs

When Obama was President he didn't have to worry about leaks because the conservative members of the bureaucracy placed the rule of law above everything else.  During the Trump administration the leaks are out of control because the liberal left ideologues embedded in the swamp places their ideology over the rule of law, and over what is best for our country.

The leaks are a serious federal felony offense, but the Democrats hidden in the cesspool don't care about the law, all they wish to do is to sabotage the Trump administration, and the attempted work of the Republican Party.

The establishment machine exists to feed itself, to empower itself, and to expand its reach.  The bureaucrats of Washington D.C., largely the leftists, feel threatened by Donald Trump, because he is not interested in keeping the machine humming.  He's more interested in throwing a monkey wrench into it.  He is not a part of the machine, and he recognizes that much of our government's dysfunctional nature is because of the leftist gremlins in the machine.  They don't like the fact that an outsider has moved into the White House, and the fourth branch of government, the administrative branch, is lashing out.  The machine is doing whatever it can to purposely incapacitate President Trump's White House, and the GOP majority in Congress.  The treason being committed is dangerous, and I call it treason because the aim is not what is best for the country, but what is best for the enemies of the Constitution who have infiltrated our system and control our system.

Surely, this administration has been taking basic precautions, which likely includes limiting access to transcripts, such as those that have been leaked to the Washington Post, to less people.  Yet, bureaucrats are still finding a way to get the leaks out.  While the actions are illegal, and should be prosecutable, first, you have to figure out who it is doing it.  At this point, with how stealthy the left is operating behind the scenes, we wonder if anyone inside the swamp will ever be held accountable.

The operation of leaking documents is forcing the Trump administration to not be able to properly focus on the Trump agenda.  Instead, the leaks have become the headlines.  The media should know better.  Given a document that is leaked, at what point as a journalist do you decide it is not good for the country?

Now, the Washington Post says they have leaked transcripts between Donald Trump and the leaders of Mexico, and Australia.

The telephone call transcripts have Trump sounding like he's compromising on the wall at the Mexican border (and whether or not Mexico is paying for the wall), and telling the Australian leader regarding a U.S. agreement from the Obama administration to take refugees from Australian detention centers - “This is going to kill me.  I am the world’s greatest person that does not want to let people into the country. And now I am agreeing to take 2,000 people... I hate taking these people … I guarantee you they are bad.”

He warned the refugees could “become the Boston bomber in five years,” according to the report.

The release by the liberal press is in the hopes that it feeds the "Trump is racist" narrative, echoed by CNN's Jim Acosta after his confrontation with Stephen Miller, when Acosta proclaimed, "The Trump White House has an unhealthy fixation on the Mexicans, the Muslims, and the Media."

First of all, it has nothing to do with racism, and everything to do with national security.  Second, why would they expect Trump to hold anything back?

Okay, fine, it's not what you say, but how you phrase it.  And, that is why the leaks are so devastating.  These are supposed to be transcripts that are not for public consumption, which allows Trump to be Trump, and when he is, the liberal media believes it is even easier for them to twist, bend, and manipulate his own words to make him look like he is exactly who they say he is.

Meanwhile, Jeff Sessions is in the middle of putting out there the efforts the Trump administration is putting into place to crack down on leaks, an effort he was planning on revealing at a press conference on Friday.

Except, with the latest leak to Washington Post, the first thought is, "It sure doesn't look like those efforts are working out so well, does it."

Getting tough on leaks was the whole reason Anthony Scaramucci had been brought on board.  "Mooch" was supposed to tackle the problem when he was named communications director. The problem was, his inability to "think it, don't say it" turned out to be worse than Trump's, so, Scaramucci didn't last long, he's gone, and brand new Chief of Staff John Kelly will tackle the problem in, likely, a more military manner.

Truth is, this shouldn't even be a problem.  It drives me nuts that the liberal left is willing to do anything to sabotage their opposition, to break the law to forward their ideology, and to lie to protect their agenda.  The problem is, to them, advancing their ideology and silencing (and destroying) their opposition is more important to them than what is best for the country, and more important to them than upholding the rule of law.
