The United States President, as per Article II, Section 2 of the United States Constitution, has the power to pardon. President Donald Trump took advantage of that authority on Friday by granting a pardon to former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio. Known for his tough stance on illegal aliens the self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff in America" was recently convicted of criminal contempt in connection with racial profiling.
All law enforcement uses the tool of racial profiling. If you can't profile as a law enforcement officer, you can't do the job. For example, if an L.A. cop is told a suspect is black with a red bandanna on his head, the cop doesn't start looking for white guys. He profiles because that is the description of the suspect. In the case of illegal aliens, the majority are either Mexican, Central American, South American, or Middle Eastern. Therefore, it is common sense for the members of law enforcement and Border Patrol to racial profile, and zeroing in on members of the aforementioned groups. In short, Arpaio was following basic law enforcement procedure.
His conviction was politically motivated, because the Democrats and Marxists are willing to do anything to protect their leftist narrative, and secure their hopes of votes in the illegal alien crowd.
Trump telegraphed that his first presidential pardon would be for Arpaio. Trump has shown support, in the past, for Arpaio's willingness to enforce immigration law while the leftest establishment does everything it can to refuse to enforce the law, and demonize anyone who does.

I met Sheriff Arpaio a year ago at the Combat Veterans for Congress event in San Diego, and he was wearing the same Glock tie pin he's wearing in the recent pictures of him. We had a few words. He pointed at my crossed revolvers I use as a tie pin, and joked, "Mine outranks yours."
"Yes, sir, it does," I replied. "Yes, sir, it does."
