Why Romney's Paul Ryan Pick Was The Right Pick
On July 14th, in an article about potential running mates for Romney, I wrote, "Paul Ryan would also be a fantastic pick, but he has indicated that he will not accept such an offer, primarily for the sake of his family."
It was because of Ryan's claim he did not wish to be chosen as a running mate that I did not consider him as a possibility.
It turns out he was willing to accept the offer of Vice Presidential running mate after all, and the choice was a pleasant surprise. After all, Ryan is a conservative who understands the basic principles of limited government, and that our rights come from God, not government.
On board the USS Wisconsin, an obvious reference to Ryan's home State, the presumptive GOP nominee for President of the United States announced that Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin would be his running mate amid loud cheers by both Republican establishment types, as well as conservatives and Tea Party folk. Though there may be a lot of reasons by many that Paul Ryan was not the best pick - Ron Paul supporters point towards the shortcomings of his budget plan, for example - I believe the choice was pure genius.
When trying to determine the wisdom of Romney choosing Paul Ryan as his running mate, Ryan's budget is exactly where everyone goes. Ron Paul supporters claim the budget fell way short, and that it worked to reform unconstitutional aspects of the federal government when what is really needed if for those items to be eliminated. Liberal democrats claim Ryan's budget went overboard in spending cuts, and places Medicare, and like programs, at serious risk. The fact is, Paul Ryan's budget was a step in the right direction, and is a testament to Ryan's understanding that as the folks destroying our system understood, you move too fast and you compromise the whole process, but if you don't move enough the effort is a useless gesture. Reforms, and more reforms, are necessary to slow down, and eventually make obsolete, unconstitutional measures. As a Constitutionalist believe me when I say that I would love nothing more than for us to get rid of the massive unconstitutional spending we see at the federal level, which would in turn drop our federal spending down to about 5% of GDP. But to do that, programs like social security and Medicare would have to be immediately scrapped. However, as unconstitutional as those programs are, the fact is we have paid into those programs, and have been promised benefits from those programs, so reforms that will incrementally privatize these programs is what is necessary. Small bites, slight moves, and incremental actions are necessary. Eventually, America will be weened off of programs like these, and then we can concentrate on being self-reliant and personally responsible as originally intended.
Paul Ryan's budget, whether it is full of shortcomings, or not, has been the most conservative attempt to reign in federal spending we have seen. The budget is a brilliant piece of work and shows Ryan's ability to tackle the big issues in a conservative manner, while tempering them just enough that the changes aren't a total shock to the system. This makes Ryan a very valuable politician, and reveals how much as a conservative he realizes the weight of the hard road we have ahead of us, and how that road must be traversed.
The Conservative Base will be, and is being, energized by the pick of Paul Ryan as Veep, without opening up the attacks about a lack of Washington experience that folks like Rand Paul or Alan West might draw. Oh, trust me, the attacks will come, and already have. That is how the liberal left is. They don't debate policy, they simply launch into the politics of personal destruction. The brilliance of the Paul Ryan pick is that the attacks have to be made up, lies have to be created, or the facts have to be exaggerated, because like Romney, in his personal life, Ryan is a good person with a happy marriage and a scandal-free political career.
Romney simply followed the play book on who to pick if you really think about it. Reagan chose someone that was quite the opposite of him, a moderate northeastern Republican in George Bush, to be his running mate in 1980. In 1996, while being doubted about his conservative nature (especially when it came to tax cuts), Bob Dole named Jack Kemp who was a fervent champion of free-market economics, as his running mate. Now, Mitt Romney is confronted with conservative skepticism about his conservative pedigree, so he picked Paul Ryan – a former Kemp speechwriter, and a conservative champion – as his vice-presidential nominee. Ryan is very conservative, though maybe not as conservative as someone like Sarah Palin. Compared to Romney, however, Ryan has just the right amount of right-wing flare. It's all about balance, and pulling in republican votes that may not otherwise find you to be the best presidential candidate.
The last of the doubters may be willing to join the Romney Camp with a choice like Paul Ryan.
The ticket is not all things to all people, and like all tickets in history, there are flaws, but when you consider the balance this ticket offers, and how choosing Ryan pulls Wisconsin into the fold (combined with Walker's popularity, how can Wisconsin now go blue?), the choice was pure genius.
Personally, I am excited about the promise of a Ryan-Biden debate. . . which scares the hell out of democrats, and may be why we may see Biden kicked to the curb.
Can anyone say "Hillary Clinton for Vice President?"
I just don't know if the Clinton crime family wants any more to do with the Obama regime. Then again, Hillary may see a V.P. position under Obama as her last chance to maneuver into position for a presidential run - which would only work for the Clintons if Obama won reelection, and somehow came out of a second term with a favorable opinion of him.
Some liberals, the real crazy leftist ones that are two sneezes away from putting on an arm band with a hammer and sickle on it, will (and are) start proclaiming their joy in Romney's pick because they think going conservative like this with the Ryan pick is going to damage the Republican Party's chances to gain the White House. In reality, they are shaking in their boots. The Left won't admit it, but deep down, like Romney, the democrats realize that conservatism wins elections.

Oregon Says, "Collect Rain Water, Go To Jail"
The rain that falls on your property in the State of Oregon does not belong to you, and you will be jailed if you collect the rain water in containers, or at least that is what happened to Gary Harrington. Last week he reported to jail for a 30 day sentence.
This is environmentalism taking the next step. Environmentalism is about taking away freedoms, and placing their misdirected anger against people who dare to oppose them.
Harrington said of his sentence, “I’m sacrificing my liberty so we can stand up as a country and stand for our liberty.”
Harrington was found guilty of breaking a 1925 law for having, what state water managers called “three illegal reservoirs,” on his property. He was convicted of nine misdemeanors, sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined over $1500 for collecting rainwater and snow runoff on his property.
I own a well on my property up there in Oregon, and the water in the creek that feeds my well is from rainwater and snow runoff. . . I wonder how long before that becomes illegal too!

Earlier this week Obama was in Colorado at an event focused on "women's issues." Obama is willing to do just about anything to get votes, since even members of his base are beginning to abandon him, so he says to the women at the Colorado event:

To make the feminist edge a little more pronounced, Obama was introduced at the event by Sandra Fluke, the promiscuous college woman who became the poster child for the idea of federally funded contraceptives, and the person who was used as the launch pad of the attack strategy, “war on women” campaign, against Republicans.

Mars Rover Scientists Say Mars Very Earthlike
New Mars rover photos reveal 'Earthlike' landscape
We have received the first two full-resolution images of the Martian surface from the Navigation cameras on NASA's Curiosity rover, which are located on the rover's "head" or mast. The rim of Gale Crater can be seen in the distance beyond the pebbly ground.
Mars looks remarkably like the California desert in a new photo beamed home by NASA's Curiosity rover, researchers said.
In the new black-and-white image, Curiosity's Gale Crater landing site bears a striking resemblance to the desert landscape a hundred miles or so east of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., where the rover was built, scientists said.

Welfare Nation Reaches 33%

Entitlements are modern slavery. Like the Master on the Plantation, the democrats provide housing, food and clothing for their modern day slaves, asking only in return undying loyalty.
Nothing is free in life. The people receiving assistance from the government is not getting free stuff like they think. The enticing promise of free stuff comes with attachments. The granters of entitlements from the government have ulterior motives. Givers always want something in return. In the case of entitlements, often the recipients give back without even realizing it. Worried that their entitlement might be taken away, they give their votes to those that grant them gifts from the treasury. Receiving free stuff from the government builds a culture of dependency - the recipient trades their independence for dependence on the government, and commitment to the democrat party. Choice is tossed aside for the promise of gifts from the government. . . freedom for slavery.
The bailouts, the welfare checks, the food stamps, the socialized health care, and the government pensions all come with an alluring promise of something for nothing, but are bought with personal freedom, and the money of the producers of this nation. Those that make the economy grow are now being penalized for their success, and are being made to pay out more to those in society that refuse to be self-reliant. Yes, I understand there are exceptions to the rule, and some of those people really need a hand. That is what charities are for. Overall, however, a vast majority takes advantage of the system, and are glad to do so, even though they are sacrificing personal freedom in the long run.
The problem is that people on the government dole believe they have a right to the governmental payout. They begin to believe they have an inherent claim to the entitlement. That is how the people in Greece feel, which is why when the government ran out of money and had no choice but to institute austerity measures, the people began to riot. They felt they were so entitled that even running out of money was no excuse.
Once an entitlement becomes ingrained, the concept of enslavement takes its place in the mix. The recipient becomes dependent on the giver, losing their independence in the process. Freedom is traded for slavery as surely as drug addiction overcomes personal choice.
The politicians always want something in return for handouts - votes, and political support, in addition to a promise of control.
Like with education. Federal money going in allows the federal government to dictate to the states on how to operate their educational programs. Federal bailouts to private businesses comes with federal control over corporate operations.
Eventually, the recipients of entitlements get to the point that they become fully dependent on government entitlements. The governmental handouts become an essential part of their personal lives. The person becomes less motivated, feel no need to take a risk on opportunities, and the dependence on government dulls any drive they may have had for personal economic independence. The person stops becoming self-reliant. The security of government aid brings about economic and emotional slavery.
The entitlement system also breaks up families. The role of the father is being replaced by government handouts, and the dads are walking out. The kids, without Dad on the scene, are more likely to turn to crime, or refuse to try to become self-reliant. Then, the cycle of entitlement slavery follows them around too.
America's entitlement culture is a culture of slavery to the government. Personal freedom and independence have been traded for the promise of free stuff. The cockroaches of Washington promise more and more in knowing that the people, once the government has its fangs in them, are willing to trade personal independence and freedom for dependence on the government and consequential slavery.

Now, to make it worse, Obama has taken out the work requirement that was added in 1996 by the Republican Congress, and of which Clinton signed after refusing to three times before. The reform worked, less people were on welfare, and more were becoming self-reliant. Now, the democrats have returned it to what it always was. . . a check in the mail for doing nothing.
Entitlement slavery threatens the very foundation of our free society. The slavery is growing, and eventually the takers will outnumber the producers. . . and on that day we will join Greece in collapse.

Lesson 12.1 - Income Tax and the Federal Reserve
Income Tax
The income tax was never supposed to come into existence. The Founding Fathers prohibited direct taxes in Article I, Section 9, Clause 4 of the U.S. Constitution, and the proposed amendment was never expected to be ratified by the States.
Progressivism was on the rise in the United States around the turn of the 20th Century. Americans were concerned about the large national debt that remained with the United States as a result of the Spanish-American War, and the growing social inequality between the rich and the poor. The idea that there should be a tax that “soaks the rich” began to take root among progressives of both major parties. The Democrats took to progressivism more than the Republican Party, and the liberals of the Democrat Party were looking for a way to embarrass the conservative arm of the GOP so that they could gain some traction in the next election.
With social unrest rising among the population, a democrat proposed The Bailey Bill with the express hope the Republicans would reject it. The theory was that after the Republicans rejected the bill, the democrats could then point a finger at the Republicans, claiming for political purposes that the Republicans were in cahoots with the corrupt wealthy corporate types, and their rejection of the Bailey Bill, which would have imposed an income tax on the rich, was proof of such an alignment between the Republicans and the wealthy.
The conservative Republicans knew what the progressives of the Democrat Party were up to, and launched a counter move. They proposed a constitutional amendment that would impose an income tax on the rich, and when the States refused to ratify the amendment, the Republicans would use that failure to ratify the amendment as proof that the people, through their State legislatures, were against the idea of a new income tax. In turn, that would defeat the Bailey Bill, for how could Congress approve an income tax against the rich through the Bailey Bill after the people and States rejected a constitutional amendment that would have done the very same thing?
The proponents of the 16th Amendment promised that if it were to be ratified (and remember, it was fully expected not to be ratified) the income tax would only be imposed on the top 5% wage earners, it would be voluntary, and it would be temporary.
The progressives of the Republican Party, however, rallied behind the proposed amendment, and the Secretary of State announced the amendment was ratified on February 12, 1913.
Progressives, satisfied the 16th Amendment was ratified, hoped to use it to tax the rich. In the beginning, only 5% of the people were required to submit tax returns. Many of the rich, however, avoided the tax with charitable deductions, and other creative strategies.
During World War II Franklin Delano Roosevelt saw the income tax as a way to vastly increase revenue, and initiated a policy of withholding from “all” wages and salaries, not just the highest incomes enjoyed by the rich. Rather than the rich paying the tax at the end of the year, the tax was collected at the payroll window before it was even due to be paid by the taxpayer. This style of collection shifted the tax from its original design as a tax on the wealthy to a tax on the masses, mostly on the middle class.
In addition to violating the original intent of Article I, Section 9, the income tax also opposes the 4th Amendment which requires that a citizen’s privacy be protected. An income tax enforced by the Internal Revenue Service violates the privacy of the home, business, personal papers and personal affairs of the private citizen. Since the tax is based on income, the IRS has the task of making sure everyone pays his fair share. This task is physically impossible without prying into the private papers, private business and personal affairs of the individual citizens.
More amazing than the birth of the 16th Amendment in the sense of how it was simply a political ploy that was never expected to be ratified, is the fact that there is evidence that the amendment was not fully ratified.
According to some researchers, the 16th Amendment was never properly ratified by the requisite three-fourths of the states. However, despite the failure of the States to fully ratify the amendment, Secretary of State Philander Knox fraudulently declared ratification. Some may suggest that he did so under the urgings of wealthy bankers like J.P. Morgan.

General Motors (GM) likes firing people.
2009 was not a good year if you were a Republican-donating GM or Chrysler dealer.
Multiple dealers who have been closed are found to have contributed millions to Republicans and mere hundreds to Obama….
“It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers. It really wasn’t Chrysler’s decision. They are under enormous pressure from the President (Obama)’s automotive task force,” said attorney Leonard Bellavia.
The $82 billion automotive bailout was supposed to “create or save” American jobs. But this Republican hunt killed 100,000 gigs right out of the gate.
And Europe has (again) become a GM employee graveyard.
GM Heads Roll in Europe
GM intends to shed another 500 managers in Europe, adding to the 8,000 factory workers let go over the past three years as part of a massive though only modestly successful push to cut costs.
GM is serially throwing people over the side in part as a personnel bailing of the sinking ship. But it appears the Bad Ship Bailout is going down even faster than we knew – or they can address.

Two weeks ago, Opel chief Karl-Friedrich Stracke presented numbers to Dan Akerson. Akerson fires him. Opel gets two interim chiefs in a week. Last Thursday, Opel’s new design chief Dave Lyon doesn’t even start his job….A day later, global marketing chief Joel Ewanick suddenly leaves. Instead of wishing him all the best for his future endeavors, GM spokesman Greg Martin puts a knife in Ewanick’s back: “He failed to meet the expectations the company has of an employee.”…
It all looks like (President Obama-appointee CEO) Dan Akerson is panicking. The GM stock is at an all-time low. GM is losing market share. When July numbers will be announced this week, GM won’t look so good, industry oracles say. Mass executions always are great to deflect criticism – for a while.
Speaking of that “all-time low” stock:
We are still stuck with 500+ million shares of the stuff. For us to break even, they must be sold at $53 per. They debuted post-bankruptcy at $33 per. They closed on Tuesday at $19.71 per. Setting us up for a nearly $17 billion loss – just on the stock.

U.S. Growth Falls to 1.5%; a Recovery Seems Mired
GM is “recovering” – like the entire Obama Economy is “recovering.”
And more and more, the GM jobs “created or saved” are in…China.
32% of first-quarter vehicle productions is going to be in China versus 30% in North America.
That would be Communist China. Where Shanghai GM in 2011 sponsored a movie celebrating the “Glorious Revolution”s 90th Anniv....
To duck the deserved criticism:
Greg Martin, executive director of communications strategy for GM, told The Daily Caller in May 2011 that Shanghai GM “is a completely separate and distinct business entity based in China that has no organizational or financial ties whatsoever” with the Detroit car maker.
“It is not GM,” Martin said then. “It is not GM money. And it is in no shape or form, or indirectly, taxpayer money.”
But now that ever more of its sales are in China:
“Shanghai GM is GM,” Martin told TheDC on Friday. “We make money, they make money.”
Disingenuousness in fact abounds when it comes to the Obama Administration and GM.
President Obama once upon a time told us we would make money on the $82 billion auto bailout. Which was then amended to:
“The government will lose less than 20 percent of the $80 billion used to bail out the U.S. automobile industry.”
Only now we’re poised to lose (at least) $42 billion. And as we’ve seen, that number is serially fungible – always upward. And reliant on Administration-provided data. It will undoubtedly end up being even worse.
GM and the Obama Administration claim to have fixed the Chevy Volt fire problem – when there are at least five fires and a whole host of attending Volt charging pro....
President Obama continues to incessantly claim that GM is #1 in global sales – even though Toyota has now recovered from their post-tsunami devastation and reclaimed the top spot.
President Obama in April 2010 asserted:
“It won’t be too long before the stock the Treasury is holding in GM could be sold ….”
And on, and on, and….
GM is allegedly an Obama Administration “success.” This is the President trying his plan, and it “working”.
Yet it’s all smoke and mirrors – when it’s not outright lies.

2009 was not a good year if you were a Republican-donating GM or Chrysler dealer.
Multiple dealers who have been closed are found to have contributed millions to Republicans and mere hundreds to Obama….
“It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers. It really wasn’t Chrysler’s decision. They are under enormous pressure from the President (Obama)’s automotive task force,” said attorney Leonard Bellavia.
The $82 billion automotive bailout was supposed to “create or save” American jobs. But this Republican hunt killed 100,000 gigs right out of the gate.
And Europe has (again) become a GM employee graveyard.
GM Heads Roll in Europe
GM intends to shed another 500 managers in Europe, adding to the 8,000 factory workers let go over the past three years as part of a massive though only modestly successful push to cut costs.
GM is serially throwing people over the side in part as a personnel bailing of the sinking ship. But it appears the Bad Ship Bailout is going down even faster than we knew – or they can address.

Two weeks ago, Opel chief Karl-Friedrich Stracke presented numbers to Dan Akerson. Akerson fires him. Opel gets two interim chiefs in a week. Last Thursday, Opel’s new design chief Dave Lyon doesn’t even start his job….A day later, global marketing chief Joel Ewanick suddenly leaves. Instead of wishing him all the best for his future endeavors, GM spokesman Greg Martin puts a knife in Ewanick’s back: “He failed to meet the expectations the company has of an employee.”…
It all looks like (President Obama-appointee CEO) Dan Akerson is panicking. The GM stock is at an all-time low. GM is losing market share. When July numbers will be announced this week, GM won’t look so good, industry oracles say. Mass executions always are great to deflect criticism – for a while.
Speaking of that “all-time low” stock:
We are still stuck with 500+ million shares of the stuff. For us to break even, they must be sold at $53 per. They debuted post-bankruptcy at $33 per. They closed on Tuesday at $19.71 per. Setting us up for a nearly $17 billion loss – just on the stock.

Akerson…is getting impatient with the slow pace of GM’s revival.

More Amnesty from the Obama Administration

With yet another unconstitutional legislative action by the executive branch through Executive Order and his regulatory agencies, Obama is skipping Congress to put a little more amnesty into America by updating the guidelines of his new deferred action program. The temporary legal status for illegal aliens could be granted to as many as 1.76 million border jumper's kids. Who qualifies got bigger, and the applications will begin poring in August 15.
Obama is sending a message to Mexico. . . come one, come all, break the law, we won't enforce it!
And he's doing this while suing States for daring to try to enforce immigration law within their state borders - giving the ol' finger flip to State sovereignty too!

Obama Works to Bring Sharia Law to United States
The most terrifying danger Americans face from a second Barack Obama term isn’t the economy, which is scary enough.
The most harrowing prospect is the Obama Administration’s passivity in the face of attempts to introduce aspects of sharia law into our legal system. Now there is strong and open evidence of the Obama administration collaborating with Islamist activists to ensure the path toward sharia law is accelerated.
Just last week, Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division, was asked this question by Trent Franks (R-AZ), a member of the House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution: "Will you tell us here today that this Administration's Department of Justice will never entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion?"
Perez refused to answer. Four times.

Reid's Lie About Romney's Taxes Spread by the Obedient Media
LA Times Touts Reid's Lies as Winning Issue
Politifact has set Harry Reid's pants on fire with the lie that Romney hasn't paid taxes in ten years. Even the Washington Post called out Reid's paranoid rants about Romney, labeling his statements as baseless drivel. However, the L.A. Times seems to think this whole sordid episode is scoring points for Obama.
