In the South the conservatives and Christians increase in number, and the popularity of Santorum among those groups became more apparent as Rick Santorum enjoyed a victory in both Alabama and Mississippi with 33% in Mississippi (Over Gingrich's 31% and Romney's 30%) and 35% (29% for Gingrich and Romney each) in Alabama. Hawaii leans towards Romney. American Somoa's results will be available later in the morning.
The delegates are allocated proportionally, so the Santorum campaign will not make big gains on the delegate count, and may even lose ground after Hawaii's is counted.
Santorum's victories show, however, that the contest is not over, and reminds us that Romney struggles in places like the traditional South.
Missouri is next, where Santorum has already won the non-binding primary.
