Marco Rubio Gets Immigration Backwards

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Senator Marco Rubio, perhaps to sound good to the Spanish speaking audience he was addressing, in regards to an immigration reform bill that he is a part of as a member of the "Gang of Eight," said that legalizing the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal aliens must happen "before" any new border security or internal enforcement measures are in place, and will in no way be conditional on any security requirements.

“Let’s be clear,” Rubio said. “Nobody is talking about preventing the legalization. The legalization is going to happen. That means the following will happen: First comes the legalization. Then come the measures to secure the border. And then comes the process of permanent residence.”

No.  Wrong Answer! That is what Ronald Reagan was willing to do, and the democrats never lived up to their end of the deal in securing the border.  Legalization first, without border security, would also usher a mass rush of illegal aliens into this country from Mexico, in the hopes of receiving amnesty for themselves.

Senator Marco Rubio is either very naive, or he is a part of the problem in Washington, and a liberal.

Secure the border, and enforce the current immigration laws on the books.  No reform is even necessary.  The GOP is letting the democrats control the narrative, and then they are falling into the "we have to have immigration reform" trap.

Amnesty is all about power, and eliminating the Republican Party.  The majority of those new voters, because they too believe the leftist propaganda, will be democrats.  Amnesty not only places this country in greater dire straights, and balloons the national deficit as more people place a drain on the system, but also it creates a whole new set of voters that would turn Texas blue, as did amnesty in the eighties to California, and the GOP would be done.

The Federalist Party in the early 1800s did not disappear and give way to the Whigs because of a battle within the party as we saw with the Whigs in the 1850s.  The Federalists simply faded into obscurity.  They stopped winning any elections, and became powerless.  That is what the democrats are trying to do to the Republican Party.  And once the GOP is gone, they will have single party rule, and will do anything to make sure no party rises up to oppose them after the Republican Party is gone.

We can stop it, however, but the first step is to stop amnesty, and to call out Rubio for his foolishness. . . up and coming conservative star, or not.
