Climatologist Warns Of 30-Year Cold Spell

by JASmius

Imagine for a moment, if you will, that there were two Chicken Littles.  The first one, we already know, getting his kicks running around squawking to any sucker who will listen that the sky is falling, scaring the Shake & Bake out of all his neighbors, and otherwise being an all-around obnoxious nuisance.  The second is a calm, rational and most important of all, honest student of the sky.  And after his twin has exhausted his compulsive hoaxism, Chicken Little II comes forward and calmly informs the townsfolk that the sky isn't falling, it's rising, and the consequences of what's actually happening (mass asphyxiation) will be far worse than if the sky were falling as his twin duped them into believing.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Chicken Little II:

With nasty cold fronts thrusting an icy and early winter across the continental U.S. — along with last winter described by USA Today as "one of the snowiest, coldest, most miserable on record" — climatologist John L. Casey thinks the weather pattern is here to stay for decades to come.

In fact, Casey, a former space shuttle engineer and NASA consultant, is out with the  provocative book "Dark Winter: How the Sun Is Causing a 30-Year Cold Spell," which warns that a radical shift in global climate is underway, and that Al Gore and other environmentalists have it completely wrong.  [Get "Dark Winter" with Free Offer — Click Here]

Earth, he says, is cooling, and cooling fast.

And unless the scientific community and political leaders act soon, cold, dark days are ahead.

Rather jarring, isn't it?  Earth is cooling, not warming?  Sol has vastly more influence over Earth's (Sol III's) climate than human carbon emissions?  We need to vastly increase atmospheric "greenhouse gas" levels, not lower them?

Yes, yes, yes, aaaaaaand yes.  As I have been doing my part to point out, both here and at Hard Starboard for the past decade.  I guess it's supposed to be some sort of shock that a the local star drives the planet's climate orders of magnitude more than SUVs and cow farts, but there you are.

And unlike the greenstremists and their Oval Office lapdog, Mr. Casey has actual evidence, and plenty of it:

Casey says the evidence is clear that Earth is rapidly growing colder because of diminished solar activity.

He says trends indicate we could be headed for colder temperatures similar to those seen in the late 1700s and early 1800s when the sun went into a "solar minimum" — a phenomenon with significantly reduced solar activity, including solar flares and sunspots.

If he's right, that would be very bad news.

You don't know the half of it, Mr. Casey.

"Dark Winter" posits that a thirty-year period of cold has already begun. Frigid temperatures and the food shortages that inevitably result could lead to riots and chaos.

Casey tells Newsmax, "All you have to do is trust natural cycles and follow the facts, and that leads you to the inevitable conclusion that the sun controls the climate, and that a new cold era has begun."

Facts?  Evidence?  Science?  What novel concepts.  It's been a long, long time since anybody gave them a try, but what the heck, it just might work.

But the food shortages, riots, and chaos can only benefit the global warming hoaxers, not just because every crisis is their best friend, but because if anybody thinks that they won't glom a burgeoning ice age as being their next incarnation of "climate change" and renew their push for draconian Marxist crackdowns on the tattered, shivering remains of what was once America's capitalist economy.....wait, can anybody think such a thing at this point?

And bona fide scientists like Mr. Casey will become rapid casualties of Chicken Littles' renewed onslaught:

His new book debunks global warming orthodoxy. For more than a decade, he reports, the planet's oceans have been cooling. And since 2007, the atmospheric temperature has been cooling as well.

"The data is pretty solid," Casey says. "If you look at the 100-year global temperature chart, you look at the steep drop-off we've had since 2007. It's the steepest drop in global temperatures in the last hundred years."

So how can the media and scientific elites make a case for global warming when it's actually cooling?

Casey suggests climate-change theorists have simply wedded themselves to the wrong theory — namely, that global temperatures respond to the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Oh, he's a dead man, isn't he?  Either way, you know what they say about "nature, red of tooth and claw":

If "Dark Winter" is right, that means the nation is busily preparing for the wrong calamity.

"We don't have ten years," Casey warns. "We've squandered during President Obama's administration eight years ... and we didn't have eight years to squander."

The worst of the cooling cycle, Casey predicts, will hit in the late 2020s and the early 2030s.

Food riots will break out, demand for heating oil will spike, and the failure of the corn crop will put the squeeze on ethanol.

He even predicts the United States will ban agricultural exports to feed its own citizens.

Famine, plagues (which always accompany famines), (even greater) international instability, revolutions, wars, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions as well.  All driven by real (i.e. solar-driven) climate change, and all but the latter two of which Barack Obama is either doing nothing to stop or even discourage, or actively encouraging, in the present day.  That's not preparing for the climatological catastrophe that's really looming in the next couple of decades, it's hastening its arrival and exacerbating its inevitable impact, and for the same reason Barack Obama does everything else: to maximize his own power and that of his party for generations to come.

We need to tap as much fossil fuel as humanly possible.  We need to spew as much CO2 into the atmosphere as we possibly can.  For as Mr. Casey commonsensically concludes:

"My theory tells you when it will be cold ... and it is the cold that kills."
