Southern California Ferguson Protesters Block Freeway in San Diego

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Diana Serafin, a local conservative activist in Murrieta, California, said to me on the phone a little while ago, "Now they've blocked Interstate 5 down in San Diego."

Her hat tip was exactly right.

University of California at San Diego students, protesting the grand jury decision in Ferguson, Missouri, marched onto the freeway in La Jolla just north of San Diego and blocked Interstate 5, completely blocking traffic and bringing it to a stand still, for about 40 minutes.  Angry motorists yelled at the demonstrators, some exiting their vehicles to do so, and at one point a motorist got into a brief physical confrontation with the leader of the group blocking the freeway.  The marchers were eventually dispersed by San Diego police, and continued their march on surface streets.  There has been no reports of arrests.

The leader of the protesters shouted his message with a bullhorn, holding signs criticizing the grand jury decision in Ferguson.  Police monitored the group as they continued along city streets.

The claim of the protesters was that they were trying to make people pay attention to what they see as a pattern of institutional violence against black people in the U.S. (never mind that 90% of violence against black people is by other black people).

In a statement filled with erroneous fiction, one UCSD student said, “What led to this demonstration is the fact that every 28 hour a black person is killed by a police officer, a security guard or a vigilante, and it’s very unlawful.  Most often these black people who are murdered are unarmed and their killers go free.”

Like the protesters in Ferguson, Missouri, the UCSD students have obeyed magnificently as mindless pawns, the racial and class division the liberal left desires, and they have done exactly what the ruling class has encouraged them to do.  Unable to think for themselves, they have picked up the banner of statism, and they have decided to side with the tyrants who seek to enslave them under the plantation of government control.
