I prefer to call it "the Jewish right of return":
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday urged European Jews to move to Israel after a Jewish man was killed in an attack outside Copenhagen's main synagogue.
"Israel is your home. We are preparing and calling for the absorption of mass immigration from Europe," Netanyahu said in a statement, repeating a similar call made after attacks by Islamic extremists in Paris last month that killed seventeen people, including four Jews.
Two police officers were also wounded in Sunday's attack, one of two fatal shootings in the normally peaceful Danish capital on the weekend.
In the first attack on Saturday a 55-year-old man was killed at a panel discussion about Islam and free speech attended by a Swedish cartoonist behind controversial caricatures of the "Prophet" Mohammed.
"Extremist Islamic terrorism has struck Europe again... Jews have been murdered again on European soil only because they were Jews," Netanyahu said in the statement.
The Israeli prime minister said his government was to adopt a $45 million (39.5 million euro) plan "to encourage the absorption of immigrants from France, Belgium and Ukraine".
"To the Jews of Europe and to the Jews of the world I say that Israel is waiting for you with open arms," Netanyahu said.
Put another way: "Bibi knows demographics." And, "There is strength in numbers". Or, at the very least, "If we are all going to die, let us all die together."
But then, speaking of Prophets, there is one of Ezekiel's predictions that Mr. Netanhyahu's appeal partially fulfills:
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the LORD God, “It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for My holy Name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went. I will vindicate the holiness of My great Name which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD,” declares the LORD God, “when I prove Myself holy among you in their sight. For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands and bring you into your own land.
That process, to date, remains incomplete. This would be a step towards its completion. And why not emigrate to Israel when there is increasingly no safe haven to be found in an acceleratedly Islamicized Europe? One wonders, if they'd fully known what was coming, how huge the Jewish emigration to the Holy Land would have been in the 1930s. Better to pick up what you can and flee than wind up in an oven "only because they were Jews," after all.
Meanwhile, as I have broached before, while God's chosen people have a homeland to which to flee, to what refugee do just as increasingly targeted Christians flee?:
{The] Islamic State released a video on Sunday purporting to show the beheading of a group of Egyptian Christians kidnapped in Libya, violence likely to deepen Cairo's concerns over security threats from militants thriving in the neighboring country's chaos.
Egypt's state news agency MENA quoted the spokesman for the Coptic Church as confirming that 21 Egyptian Christians believed to be held by [the] Islamic State were dead.
In the video, militants in black marched the captives, dressed in orange jump suits, to a beach the group said was near Tripoli. They were forced down onto their knees, then beheaded.
The video appeared on the Twitter feed of a website that supports Islamic State, which has seized parts of Iraq and Syria and has also beheaded Western hostages.
A caption on the five-minute video read: "The people of the cross, followers of the hostile Egyptian church."...
Before the killings, one of the militants stood with a knife in his hand and said: "Safety for you crusaders is something you can only wish for."
The part he left out? "....wherever you may be."
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has called a seven-day mourning period and is reported to have held an urgent meeting of his top military commanders. This atrocity against Egyptian Christians comes in the context of the Egyptian army having overthrowing the Muslim Brotherhood regime of Mohammed Morsi two years ago and the attempts of al Qaeda - and/or, now apparently, ISIS - in Libya and the Sinai Peninsula-based and ISIS-affiliated Ansar Beyt al-Maqdis to take the largest Arab country back for the Global Caliphate. And as can be easily discerned from the two jihadist groups' locations above, the al-Sisi government is effectively surrounded.
Hopefully Ansar Beyt al-Maqdis will be the first target, since that would simply be regaining control over Egypt's own territory, before launching an invasion of Libya that could potentially be more destabilizing at home than it will be to the enemy to the west.
But not every entity battling ISIS is necessarily a state actor. Some Christians, as a matter of fact, are fighting fire with fire:
Saint Michael, the archangel of battle, is tattooed across the back of a U.S. army veteran who recently returned to Iraq and joined a Christian militia fighting Islamic State in what he sees as a biblical war between good and evil.
Brett, 28, carries the same thumb-worn pocket Bible he did whilst deployed to Iraq in 2006 - a picture of the Virgin Mary tucked inside its pages and his favourite verses highlighted.
"It's very different," he said, asked how the experiences compared. "Here I'm fighting for a people and for a faith, and the enemy is much bigger and more brutal."
Thousands of foreigners have flocked to Iraq and Syria in the past two years, mostly to join [the] Islamic State, but a handful of idealistic Westerners are enlisting as well, citing frustration their governments are not doing more to combat the ultra-radical Islamists or prevent the suffering of innocents.
The militia they joined is called Dwekh Nawsha - meaning self-sacrifice in the ancient Aramaic language spoken by Christ and still used by Assyrian Christians....the indigenous people of Iraq. [emphasis added]
Otherwise known as "putting one's life (and M-16) where one's mouth is". Even though Brett is more likely to wind up in an ISIS decapitation video, unless he also has a "capture is not an option" grenade in his personal arsenal, if you smell what I'm cooking.
Still, it is an inspiring sight to quite literally be able to exclaim, "Onward, Christian soldiers!"
Good hunting, my brothers, and Godspeed. May your, yes, Crusade sate an army of virgins, if you smell what I'm cooking.
