Dick Morris: Democrats Will Dump Hillary If Email Controversy Drags On

by JASmius

That is, of course, the currently proximate cause chosen by Team Messiah.  But there are plenty of other reasons for Democrats to dump Mrs. Clinton besides Servergate, all of them adding up to the same thing: She cannot win in 2016.

And, before any of you start citing current polling purporting to show her beating all the top (i.e. media-favored) GOP names, don't bother, as they're all psy-ops designed to make the weakest Republican (i.e. Jeb Bush) seem "inevitable" for the GOP nomination and Hillary seem "unstoppable" in the general.  In short, the same standard preemption gimmick the media always uses to capsize the electoral battleground in the Left's favor.  Remember how a "warmonger" like Ronald Reagan had "no chance" against President Carter?  How'd that matchup turn out?

And yes, Dick Morris again.  The man who guaranteed that Mitt Romney was going to unseat Barack Obama, and it wasn't going to be close.  But he does know the Clintons as well or better than anybody.  I was first on this island, but Toe-Sucker was a close second, and it's starting to get a little crowded, truth be told:

Democrats will abandon Hillary Clinton as their presidential nominee if her email troubles continue much longer, Dick Morris said Sunday.

"Normally, that's the Clinton playbook: delay, delay, delay. And while you're doing it counterattack by savaging your prosecutor and the amount of time it's taking and the amount of money he's consuming until the public gets so tired of it that they drop it and they move on," Morris, Bill Clinton's former pollster, told John Catsimatidis on The Cats Roundtable on AM 970 in New York.

The difference this time?  The Clintons are not in power.  You can practice the fine art of delay when you're already on the throne, but when you're still trying to get there, time is not yours to bide.

And then there's the matter of there being no "prosecutor" to savage, with the high likelihood that there will never be one.

Morris warned that if it appears by the middle of the campaign that Clinton could face criminal charges for keeping classified documents on her own server during her time as secretary of state, "The Democratic Party is not going to want her to be the nominee."

"When we talk about 'Will Hillary survive the email scandal?' – it’s just like asking in 1973 and '74, 'Will Nixon survive the Watergate tapes?'" he said.

The operative word being "could".  Remember the fine line that the White House will be walking here.  If they release the hounds on Servergate to destroy Hillary outright, it will be in way too close a proximity to all of Barack Obama's own scandals (one of which she's submerged up to her waddly neck, i.e. Benghazigate).  But they don't have to put the Empress behind bars to destroy her politically and deny her the Democrat nomination.  And so simply keeping this story in the news and keeping her under a proverbial "cloud" will be sufficient to seed enough doubt in enough Donk voters to get the job done.  Especially since they've got a ready alternative "tanned, rested, and ready" in Hillary circa 1992:

Such concerns will add to the pressure for Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren to run, Morris said.

"I think Obama wants Warren, not Hillary," he said. "I think the reason the email scandal got released to the newspapers by the administration was because they wanted to torpedo Hillary."...

"I think that the pressure on Warren to get in will mount, particularly if Hillary’s poll numbers continue to drop," he said.

And the more they do, the less obligated the media will feel to continue to prop her up.

It is nakedly obvious to anybody who is willing to open their eyes and see: Barack Obama was the only person in America who didn't drink the "Hillary is inevitable" Kool Aid in 2008, and he kicked her ass.  That was her last, best shot at her lifelong dream.  She is orders of magnitude weaker this time around, not least of which is because she lost back then.  If she was all the Dems had, she, and they, would limp on through the next nineteen months and change and get buried under the Scott Walker avalanche (or the Obama coup).  But she's not.  The Dems have Fauxcahontas, the Dems LOVE Fauxcahontas as they loath Mrs. Clinton, and consequently they do not need her.

Ultimately, and not too long from now, the Clintons will be the only people in Obamerikastan who will still be drinking the "Hillary is inevitable" Kool Aid.  And Bill only to keep washing down his Viagra and Cialis.  Kind of like if the "reverend" Jim Jones had downed his first, keeled over, and then all his "People's Temple" followers exclaimed "psyche!" and went back home.

But let not your hearts be troubled, my friends, for I will still be there to say "I told you so" when y'all arrive on the island.
