The Left's Self-Fulfilling "Prophecies"

by JASmius

Two examples for you on this fine LORD's Day morning (courtesy of Newsmax Insider).

First, according to Scott Rasmussen's latest poll on the topic, pro-deportation sentiment is at an all-time high:

While Barack Obama continues to promote his plan to make up to five million illegal immigrants safe from deportation, more voters than ever feel the U.S. should be more aggressive in deporting those in the country illegally, a new poll reveals.

In the survey of likely voters by Rasmussen Reports, respondents were asked if the U.S. government is too aggressive or not aggressive enough to deporting illegal aliens.

By far, respondents say the government is not aggressive enough — 62% feel that way, up from 52% a year ago and 56% in November, while just 16% think the government is too aggressive. The rest believe the number of deportations is about right, or are not sure. Eight in ten Republicans say the government is not aggressive enough in deporting illegals, compared to 40% of Democrats.

A slight majority of respondents, 51%, think that illegal immigrants who have American-born children should not be exempt from deportation, an element of Obama's plan, while just 32% say they should be exempt.

A majority, 54% — and 68% of Republicans — also think that a child born to an illegal immigrant mother in the United States should not automatically become a U.S. citizen, as is now the case, while 38% support the current policy of automatic citizenship for those children.

An overwhelming 83% of likely voters believe people must prove that they are in the country legally before they can receive local, state or federal government services, Rasmussen found.

Just 25% of respondents say that they are "very concerned" that efforts to identify and deport illegal aliens will result in violating the civil rights of some U.S. citizens, while 43% are "not very concerned" or "not at all concerned."

More than half of voters are opposed to Obama's plan to allow nearly five million illegal immigrants to remain in the country and apply for jobs, and 47% believe Congress should try to stop the [Obama's] plan.

That last item should probably read, "47% still believe Congress is capable of stopping Obama's plan," since they have twice refused to make the attempt over the preceding five months.

Conclusions?  This isn't the typical Obamedia psy-ops poll of "adults," which lumps in Obamunist drones who parrot the White House party line but tend not to show up on Election Day.  Scott Rasmussen is both independent and an actual pollster, a really and truly honest-to-goodness measurer of the public sentiment that actually matters.  And that public sentiment indicates the same thing (if not quite to the same proportions) as 2014 exit polling: The American electorate wants no part of Obamnesty, wants it stopped, halted, thwarted, and reversed with extreme prejudice.  A modest majority even understand that automatic U.S. citizenship is, constitutionally speaking, not a function of birth location but of the "allegiance" of one's parents - which is to say that legally speaking, there is not and cannot be any such thing as "anchor babies".

However, there is one more conclusion to be drawn from Mr. Rasmussen's survey results: Far from alarming the Obama Regime, they will confirm everything The One is doing and everything he has ever believed about the subject, American slave population: That the overwhelming majority of us are "mean" and "selfish" and "bigoted" and "hateful" and must be forced to do and accept the "right thing" that "upholds our values, etc., etc., etc.  Obamunist policies, in short, are expressly designed to provoke precisely the public reactions that conform to Obamunist prejudices about the American people they are supposedly "serving" so as to justify not just continuing, but ratcheting up still further their rule against the expressed will of that same American public.

Another case in point - Americans are fleeing high-tax states:

New York State suffered a net loss of 1.5 million people between 2004 and 2013. It is likely not a coincidence that the state’s top marginal personal income tax rate is the second-highest in the nation.

And that it is a "blue" State.

California has the highest top tax rate, 13.3%, ahead of New York's 12.7%. The Golden State also lost significant population in that time period, with 1.4 million people departing.

Blue State, blue State.

On the other hand, states with low taxes have been gaining population, according to the eighth edition of the "Rich States, Poor States" report released by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) on Wednesday.

Texas saw the largest population gain between 2004 and 2013, 1.2 million. The Lone Star State has no personal income tax.

"Red" State.

Florida gained 960,000 during that period. The Sunshine State also has no personal income tax.

"Purple" State.

Other states with significant population gains include North Carolina (655,600) and Arizona (584,100)....

Two "red" States.

....while states losing population include Illinois (-646,800) and Michigan (-628,400).

Two "blue" States.

The ALEC-Laffer State Economic Competitiveness Index also ranks States on their economic performance from 2003 to 2013, and their economic outlook in 2015.

The economic outlook rankings are based on fifteen factors, including income tax, property tax burden, sales taxes, public employees per 10,000 residents, the state minimum wage, and whether a state is a right to work state.

Utah placed first in economic outlook, due in part to its low marginal corporate income tax rate and lack of an estate tax. Utah is a right to work state.

Aaaaaaaand a "red" State.

North Dakota was ranked second, followed by Indiana, North Carolina, and Arizona.

Red, red, red, red.

New York was 50th due mostly to its high personal and corporate tax rates, plus a high property tax burden and high sales taxes.

Blue.

Other States in the bottom five, in ascending order, are Vermont, Minnesota, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

All blue.

As for the economic performance rating over the ten-year period, which is based on a state's GDP, migration, and non-farm payrolls, Texas finished in the top position. Its GDP grew by 81.7% during that period, and non-farm payrolls grew by 20.5%.

Red.

North Dakota was second, followed by Utah, Oklahoma, and Wyoming.

All red.

Michigan was last at #50, after seeing a 6.4% decrease in non-farm payrolls.

Blue.

Others in the bottom five are Ohio, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Illinois.

Purple, blue, blue, blue.

I'm noticing a pattern here.  States that treat their citizens with respect and welcome, as honored popular sovereigns, attract intra-American emigres in droves; whereas the States that treat their citizens with contempt as morons to be enslaved, as enemies to be plundered, are being evacuated like a burning building.

But again, that is not the pattern the Obamunists see; rather, this phenomenon simply demonstrates what they've always believed about the American public they despise: That we're "selfish" and "greedy" and must be forced to "pay our fair share" to "uphold our values," etc., etc., etc.  And since it's comparatively easy to move to another State but quite difficult to depart for another country - and if you have the means and wherewithall to do so, you're probably an Obamunist and therefore the recipient of a blizzard of O's "waivers" already - We, The People really are a subject slave population.  Because that's what Barack Obama has decided we "richly" deserve, until such time as we "come to our senses" or been fully "re-educated," whichever comes first.

And this is after having elected and re-elected Barack Obama POTUS, too.  Which evidently proved nothing in his eyes.

There's a lesson in that for Obama voters, if they were remotely capable of learning it.
