A stunning, neigh SHOCKING development, I know. Who would ever have imagined it?
As always, there is a prelude to the punchline - or what I always refer to as, "the first shoe dropping":
In a memo from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to the National Security Council, the CIA, and the White House five days after the attack on the consulate in Benghazi, the DIA concluded that the attack had been planned for more than a week and was retribution for an American drone strike that had killed a senior al-Qaeda leader in June 2012. Moreover, the attack had been planned for the anniversary of 9/11 as a propaganda coup for AQ and its affiliate behind the attack, and not just a coincidence as the White House later claimed....
As Catherine Herridge and Martha McCallum point out, the memo tells a lot more of the story than we knew before. The consulate and its intelligence operation nearby was keeping an eye on weapons transfers to anti-Assad forces in Syria [i.e. the Islamic State], one of the proposed reasons why the U.S. would have kept a consulate open in that city for so long.
Oh, we knew all of that, Ed. This disclosure is just redundant proof of it.
There is an interesting addendum along that latter line:
The DIA tried to warn Congress about the threat [of ISIS] in January 2014, which is when Obama compared them to the “jayvees.” Sixteen months before that, the DIA had predicted exactly what would happen with the group formerly known as al-Qaeda in Iraq, right down to their declaration of a caliphate in the area that the U.S. had fought so hard to wrest from their control in 2006-8.
So the Obama Regime knew that Benghazi was a jihadist attack and not any reaction to a YouTube video that had fewer than a dozen views before the White House started globally promoting it, but they pushed the latter mendacity because the truth would have contradicted the lie that Obama had al Qaeda "decimated" and "on the run" in the home stretch of his re-election campaign; and the Obama Regime knew that ISIS was not a "jayvee team," but plowed ahead with that lie because the Narrative demanded it - as it still does to this day. The only thing that's changed is the delusional assertion's hilarious implausibility.
Which brings us to an even more intriguing revelation (if you want to call it that). Remember Sid Blumenthal? He told Mrs. Clinton of the true nature and source of the Benghazi attack three days before the Defense Intelligence Agency did:
The next day [September 13th], Mr. Blumenthal sent Mrs. Clinton a more thorough account of what had occurred. Citing “sensitive sources” in Libya, the memo provided extensive detail about the episode, saying that the siege had been set off by members of Ansar al-Shariah, the Libyan terrorist group. Those militants had ties to Al Qaeda, had planned the attacks for a month and had used a nearby protest as cover for the siege, the memo said. “We should get this around asap” Mrs. Clinton said in an email to Mr. Sullivan. “Will do,” he responded. That information contradicted the Obama administration’s narrative at the time about what had spawned the attacks. Republicans have said the administration misled the country about the attacks because it did not want to undermine the notion that President Obama, who was up for re-election, was winning the war on terrorism. (Pages 200-203)
Why did the Ugly Dutchess want Blumenthal's memo to "get around ASAP"? Because they needed to know what the truth was in order to formulate the most effective propaganda lies to cover it up. It also illustrates whom she really trusted to obtain "facts on the ground," and it wasn't anybody in any "official" capacity.
There aren't words to adequately describe the brutal, cynically corrupt stench that surrounds this entire caper. And if it turns out that we really don't know the whole Benghazi story, in light of what we know already, I'm not sure I want to find out the rest.
