The Black Thelma & Louise

by JASmius

When Maryland State Attorney Marilyn Mosby filed her ludicrously overblown charges against "the Baltimore Six," I was astonished to learn that three of the police officers in question are African-American, and one of that trio was female.

This story restores my faith in Baltimore's "black community":

According to a press release from the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS), two female correctional officers have been suspended without pay after being charged with ‘theft’ and ‘burglary’ of a 7-11 during last month’s riots in Baltimore.

The release states that after receiving a tip, the DPSCS and the IID (Intelligence and Investigative Division) reviewed security footage for April 25th at the West Baltimore Street 7-11 and were able to identify correctional officers Tamika Cobb and Kendra Richard leaving with unpaid merchandise.

Are Miss Cobb and Miss Richard hardened (or "reformed") criminals?  Not to my knowledge nor mention in this story.  But clearly they believed that their ethnicity entitled them to take advantage of the Baltimore riots to help themselves to free stuff.  And they, evidently, got caught.

What makes this newsworthy?  Both ladies are being subjected - for the moment, anyway - to some measure of accountability and discipline for their malfeasant actions.  Which is, of course, flagrantly racist.  Expect Mrs. Mosby to expand her prosecution to include a civil rights investigation of Maryland's DSPCS in the very near future.
