I have been saying over the last few years that Julian Castro may very well wind up the Presidential nomination for the Democrat Party in 2016. At worst, he'd be in the conversation, and perhaps a Vice Presidential running mate. My verbal implications were usually met with doubts, or the simple question, "Who?"
With the advent of the Obama Presidency, the Democrats have learned that using the race card is much more productive for their quest for power than cries of sexism. Don't get me wrong, they have used the accusation of Republicans being sexist quite well with their "War on Women" propaganda game. But, race baiting has been much more effective for them, and now that illegal immigration is where it is, and the growth of the Hispanic population in the United States is poised to dislodge whites as the majority, a young, charismatic Hispanic candidate who gives fiery speeches like his blackish predecessor is just what the doctor of tyranny ordered.
Castro first caught my attention after he was the keynote speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention. That's how Obama lurched into leftist prominence. . . with a fiery speech. Who knew, outside of a group of Illinois supporters of infanticide, who Barack Obama was before his DNC keynote address in 2004? And now, thinking of the future, the Democrats have been setting the stage for Julian Castro. Who better than a young, attractive, charismatic Hispanic from the very Red State of Texas to continue the leftist coup going on in Washington. . . with a chance to flip Texas while they are at it?
And as we approach the 2016 presidential circus, Castro remains slightly unknown, yet on the scene. That way, like Obama, he can be an empty slate, for the voters to pin all of their hopes, and dreams of change, upon. The pieces are falling into place. Elizabeth Warren, who many thought could steal the nomination from Hillary Clinton, is slowly falling out of the picture. A pro-Warren group has disbanded, for example, partly because of Warren's decision to be one of the Democrats leading the fight against President Obama's Trans Pacific Partnership endeavor.
Hillary Clinton's chances are falling apart as well. Riddled with scandal after scandal, and a growing perception that she is just another lying, cheating, money-grabbing politician who has no problem jumping in bed with money from terrorists and large corporations, America has come to the conclusion that Mrs. Clinton can't be trusted. The email scandal has been a primary focus of those that feel they just can't trust the former First Lady, former Secretary of State, and former U.S. Senator that rose to prominence only because she is the wife of former President Bill Clinton. Participants in a Quinnipiac Poll revealed that nearly half of voters in key states don’t view her as honest and trustworthy.
In the wake of Clinton’s email scandal, where she conveniently wiped out key emails regarding a number of scandals, but particularly regarding Benghazi, 50 percent of Florida voters see the former Secretary of State as dishonest -- compared to 41 percent that do trust her. In Pennsylvania, 49 percent of voters don’t trust Clinton and 44 percent do. Ohio voters are nearly evenly divided: 47 percent don't trust Clinton and 46 percent do. “Thirty-six percent of independent voters in the key state of Ohio say they are less likely to vote for her because of the e-mail controversy,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac Poll.
The poll showed that GOP candidates would win against Clinton in both Florida and Pennsylvania.
An Associated Press-GfK poll echoed the findings of the Quinnipiac Poll, finding that Americans appear to be suspicious of Hillary Rodham Clinton's honesty, and many Democrats are only lukewarm about her presidential candidacy.
She's not inspiring and likable. She can't explain her email practices while in government. And that is not even getting into the Clinton Cash questions regarding the Clinton Foundation. Nearly four in 10 Democrats, and more than six in 10 independents agreed that "honest" was not the best word for her.
Julian Castro doesn't have these problems. He is charismatic, well liked, young, and Hispanic. He's a blank slate without a list of scandals chasing him wherever he goes. He gives great speeches (according to his fans) that are believable, and would be convincing even if he was lying. And now that he's been Secretary of HUD, the Democrats can claim he has federal experience.
Along with his twin brother, Joaquin, a first term congressman, Julian has been making his rounds of television appearances. There is a campaign to put Julian on Hillary Clinton's Vice President short-list. He is in the conversation, and I believe he will suddenly emerge as the next rising star, like Obama did, and shock everyone when he becomes the Democrat Party candidate for President over Hillary Clinton... like Obama did. The Democrats believe that lightening can strike twice, and they are going to try and prove it with Julian Castro.
Don't forget, I am also the person that said Sarah Palin would be the Vice Presidential running mate to whoever the Republican nomination was in 2008, and I wrote about that more than a year before John McCain chose her as his running mate.
I will also make another prediction. If the Democrats do indeed make Julian Castro their nomination for the 2016 Presidential Election, it won't matter how unpopular Obama becomes nearing the end of his presidency, the Democrats will keep the White House with ease after the 2016 Election. . . and America will once again be mesmerized by yet another hard left historic Presidential Win, and place all of their hopes and dreams on the empty slate heading up the Executive Branch. That is, if Barack Obama is willing to step down.
Then, once Mr. Castro is in office (or King Obama returns), the puppet strings will begin to dance, and the nation will lurch leftward even more.

There's one big thing missing from a reprise of the Obama ascension template: There's no hugely unpopular two-term Republican presidency against which for Julian Castro to run. After almost a decade of day-in and day-out anti-Bush/anti-Republican/anti-conservative vilification in, by, and through the media, not to mention a conveniently timed financial panic, it was easy-peasy lemon-squeezy for Barack Obama to run as the tabula rasa, "great black hope," "anybody but another Bush" candidate and panic the LIVs and NIVs into flocking to his cloaked hammer & sickle banner. In 2016 the country will be at the end of a disastrous, unpopular two-term Democrat presidency, Obama-fatigue will be pervasive, and such an obvious and premature sequel would be running too great a risk of crashing and burning unnecessarily.
The Dems will save Castro for 2020 or 2024, after We, The People get a snootful of the "solutions" we'll be electing Scott Walker to devise and implement, and it turns off independents and re-energizes, and further radicalizes, the Nutroots.
