Trump: Keep Funding Planned Parenthood

by JASmius

Donald Trump a week ago, when facing an interviewer - Hugh Hewitt - that he could neither intimidate or bamboozle:

HH: The word is that the Democrats will filibuster and the president will veto — that’s the only way to get rid of Planned Parenthood money for selling off baby parts is to shut the government down in September. Would you support that?

DT: Well I can tell you this. I would and I was also in support if the Republicans stuck together you could have done it with ObamaCare also, but the Republicans decided not to stick together and they left a few people out there like Ted Cruz. You know, they left a lot of the people who really went in and wanted to do the job and you know what? If they had stuck together they wold have won that battle. I think you have to in this case also, yes. [emphases added]

Two bookends of BS around a trademark mound of Tea Party-pandering red meat.  But those bookends are pretty unequivocal: "I would support a government shutdown to defund Planned Parenthood".  Um, "period".

Fast forward to last night: Donald Trump on CNN, being interviewed by the decidedly not-Hugh-Hewitt Chris Cuomo:

When pressed on non-abortion services Planned Parenthood allegedly provides, Trump said, “What I would do when the time came, I’d look at the individual things they do, and maybe some of the individual things they do are good. I know a lot of the things are bad. But certainly the abortion aspect of it should not be funded by government, absolutely.”

Trump continued, “I would look at the good aspects of [Planned Parenthood], and I would also look, because I’m sure they do some things properly and good and that are good for women, and I would look at that, and I would look at other aspects also. But we have to take care of women.” [emphasis added]

First of all, funding of any sort for Planned Parenthood or any other fake or genuine provider of healthcare for women or anybody else is not an enumerated power of the federal government, and thus unconstitutional by definition.  Second of all, there aren't any "good aspects" of Planned Parenthood; PP exists for one reason and one reason only: perpetrating genocide on the unborn and using the desiccated, dismembered remains to boost their taxpayer-subsidized profit margins even more.  Any function they perform outside of that core mission is a camouflage front for killing babies on an industrial scale.  And third of all, we all should know by now what "taking care of women" means to Donald Trump.  Barring Megyn Kelly from any OBGYN in the country, for starters.

See, there's this concept known as "fungibility".  What it means is that money can be shifted around from one account with one purpose to others with different purposes.  Planned Parenthood continues to dishonestly insist to this day that the feds don't subsidize their abortion disassembly lines, but only "women's health" - which is, of course, a euphemism for relieving expectant mothers of their "puddles of goop" and shipping them off to the nearest mad science lab - another purpose for their "women's health" PR camouflage.  But the half-billion bucks that pours into Planned Parenthood's coffers from thee and me every year, even via ostensibly non-abortion "services," frees up a like sum to be shifted over to PP's core mission.

It's a shell game, in short, and it always has been.  One with which Donald Trump, the avenging Planned Parenthood-defunder and defender of the innocent unborn, appears perfectly okey-dokey.  As, in reality, he always has been.

So what's your excuse this time, Tea Party Trumpsters?  That your hero "misspoke"?  That that dastardly Chris Cuomo tricked him?  Doesn't that kind of undermine the tough-guy image of himself that Trump has constructed in your minds?  And, whether a slow-witted fool, a weathervane squish, or a turd-in-every-pocket mercenary, is such a man REALLY the candidate you want to see representing the Republican Party in 2016?

The answer you provide will reveal much more about y'all than it will Trump, because for anybody who cares to look, he's already an open book.
