Back in the Constitutional Saddle Again

By Douglas V, Gibbs

There's nothing like a gun show to get one invigorated.

As the new year is upon us, as the election looms on the horizon, and as Obama decides to toss aside his pen and his phone and simply rule by verbal decree, it seems more important than ever to get in the groove to get this country turned around.  I am a firm believer that education plays a large part in the battle.  As James Madison wisely told us, "A well-instructed people alone can be permanently a free people."

Of course, education alone won't do it.  We need to be advocates for liberty, active and involved.

And, there is one more thing we need to be.  I think Benjamin Franklin said it best.  "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom."

If we abandon the values that the foundation of this nation was created and set upon, all of the fight in the world won't turn this around.  Without a virtuous moral standard upon which the people are rooted, the Constitution is nothing more than ink and paper because as a society we are not capable of appreciating, defending, or living by the principles contained on its pages.

We also must not allow ourselves to be sidetracked by the static noise of life, the many distractions thrown at us to keep us from realizing that the fight needs to be fought.  Unfortunately, most folks don't get involved until the pinch really slams into their wallet.  For many, the election of Obama was enough to get people involved.  His devout allegiance to collectivism, and his tactics of class warfare, and racial division, was enough to anger many Americans, and get them involved.  That is how the Tea Party came to be.  But, the war has become more difficult, the assault on our liberty by the leftists has been kicked up a few notches, and they are no longer shy about who they are.  The Constitution is going down in flames as the Democrats, and a good number of Republicans, ignore the principles of limited government, and seek to fundamentally change our republic into an oligarchy ruled over by a few political elitists.

In my opinion, it all begins with using our Faith as a solid foundation, and the Holy Bible and the U.S. Constitution as our swords of truth.

Stay tuned for more as the 2016 Election Season unfolds. . .
