Excellent Post Doug.

Strange that is just how I had seen James Baker too as Neville Chamberlain anything to appease the tyrants.

I find the comparison in the video somewhat purile.

I ask you. If we, the greatest military the world has ever seen, can not quell the sectarian violence, the bathist insurgents, and the terrorists, then how can we expect to train the Iraqi Military to do so?

A quagmire is something you get in, that you can't get out of.

mudkitty don't you mean puerile not purile and no I don't find it childish, I find it quite an in-depth comparison.

mudkitty, we are gaining on quelling the insurgents and the killing is getting less and less all the time, you say that we are in a quagmire, what is the definition of a quagmire, that is what the left called the Vietnam war that they them selves started.

Look mudkitty we still have troops in Germany, is that also considered occupied and a quagmire too?

Surely you can tell the difference between having a military base in a country and occupying a country? Please, please, please tell me you know the difference.

*****

And a quagmire Vietnam was. Actually, Eisenhower handed of the Vietnam problem to Kennedy, but OK. It was a mistake however you look at it.

As for the violence by not just insurgents, but sectarians and terrorists is distinctly NOT getting "less and less" all the time. To believe that is to say that up is down and right is left. Not even the Bushies are trying to pull that one off anymore.

Now all the Bushies are doing is trying to figure out how to make lemonade without any lemons or sugar.

You are wrong, Eisenhower was out of office way before the Vietnam War.
Eisenhower had not a thing to do with it so don't even go there, I am older than you are mudkitty and you can't pull that garbage on me.

Excuse me rider, Honey, but the Indochine War started waaaay before Kennedy.

Seriously Rider, I like you. As a human being I even love you. You need to know, that Kennedy INHERITED the Vietnam War. He didn't start it. But, and this is a big but...Kennedy made a terrible mistake in accelerating the war, in the thought that he could win it. The same mistake Bush is about to make, only he's the bully that picked the fight in Iraq, because he was too afraid of the real bullys - the Saudi's who are the Bush benefactors.
