Protests and Counter-Protests

The front page of Sunday’s newspaper made no mention of the Gathering of Eagles March. In fact, none of the articles in the entire paper as far as even muttered a syllable about it. However, the front page did say, “Iraq War: Its four-year anniversary gives rise to protests in the capital and across the nation.”

There was a brief story in the local section about a counter-protest march in San Bernardino.

Perhaps, I thought, not enough people showed up for the Gathering of Eagles for it to make it to the news.

15,000 Eagles marched on the capital, outnumbering the anti-war crowd, and filling in every nook and cranny of D.C. with American Flags and patriotic signs.

I heard that the war protestors draped themselves in yellow blankets. Yellow. Appropriate color.

Maybe there was just a mistake, and the local newspapers I read (I gander at three local papers - and none of them are the Los Angeles Times) would give equal coverage to the Eagles on Monday.

Front Page, on Monday’s Paper, read: “War Objectors: Thousands March in California, New York.” Underneath that it read, “Activists seek end to fighting, funding.”

Wait, I could have sworn a certain liberal commenter on Political Pistachio, not too long ago, claimed that the idea of the left desiring a cut and run and a cut in funding to the troops was a right-wing myth! Maybe our lefty nut cakes are not as in tune with their movement as they think.

Page three headlined: “Get out of Iraq, protesters say,” and “Marchers on both coasts claim withdrawal is will of people.”

Next page kissed Obama’s butt. Page after that claimed Israel needs to give up land to Palestine. And on and on it went.

What is the matter with these people? Why are they so partisan in a world they claim is crying out for non-partisanship?

The answer is simple, and many folks fear this next statement because it reeks of conspiracy. The mainstream media has fallen victim to the lefty effort to inject into America the socialist agenda, led by folks like George Soros (in fact he funded many of the marches - grass roots my butt!), Peter Lewis, Michael Moore, Rosie O’Donnell, George Clooney, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Alec Baldwin, and the list goes on and on and on. Did I mention Bill Moyers?

Well, Political Pistachio is happy to say that the voices of the Eagles are welcome here, and one of our own blogger friends was there in Washington D.C. last Saturday to be a part of it, and he has provided a great report. Go to Bushwack’s site, American and Proud, for the full diddy.

And if that’s not enough, Bushwack has also agreed to be my guest on Political Pistachio Radio on March 31 to tell us about his trip, what he experienced, and how he dealt with the idiot left’s representatives there in Washington D.C. on March 17. Tune in at Blog Talk Radio, March 31, 4 pm Pacific/7 pm Eastern for the full scoop.

The mainstream media is pushing the agenda, my friends. They are not our friend. We must counter their tactics. We are conservative bloggers! United We Stand!

Blessings,

Doug

I don't listen to my favorite blog radio shows as much as I'd like to. I'll certainly catch this one (archived if I must).

The "protesters" are well within their rights (usually), but they make me want to vomit. I swear to defend their rights to pull this crap, and watch in disgust as they blame their own country for every woe that comes along. Idiots.

Hi Doug,

I never and I hope that you never really believed that the Main Stream Media was really going to give that report on the counter protest an equal and fair reporting because I knew how it was going to turn out in that retrospect long before it ever happened.

The Main Stream Media has an agenda to push and to give the other side The Gathering Of Eagles the fair break that they rightly deserved was not what they had ever intended in the first place.

Doug my friend, you above all others should know that the Left will LIE to put forth their agenda.

As one who is not so well-schooled in the ways of the world, there is one thing I just don't understand, re: "The "protesters" are well within their rights (usually)..."

From what I've read in a number of places, the purpose behind the Gathering of Eagles, aside from supporting Bush in the war effort (which, just to be clear, I support 100 percent as well), was to also prevent the anti-war protesters from desecrating the war memorials, which, I believe, don't so much serve as memorials to war, but rather to those who died protecting our freedoms.

Can you imagine? The need to gather, and form an organization around preventing mean-spirited psychopaths from defacing what is much more than just federal property.

And so, yeah, the Constitution grants them the right to gather, and our boys 'n girls overseas fighting the douchebags who hate America and want to steal our liberty and Constitutional freedoms, defend that right, but they thank those fighting the bad guys by pissing on and spraypainting the memorials that honor them.

I just don't get this crazy world, sometimes. If it weren't for the innate need for us to win this war on terror, I'd love to go bury my head in the sand out of shame sometimes.

You got that right Phil!
Over and over again on the local news here, it's always the protesters in the forefront an the counter protest secondary.

'Wait, I could have sworn a certain liberal commenter on Political Pistachio, not too long ago, claimed that the idea of the left desiring a cut and run and a cut in funding to the troops was a right-wing myth! Maybe our lefty nut cakes are not as in tune with their movement as they think.'

It gos to show their logic is flawed.
BTW-who was that liberal commenter?
(no need to answer)..lol

The fact that I am a Conservative is widely disputed on this blog, I know. But that aside, could someone explain to me what exactly the mainstream media has to gain by injecting Socialist ideals into the airwaves? Wouldn't -- assuming the injection worked like a charm -- the media conglomerates be monetarily hurt? You know, redistribution of wealth and all.

I believe, however, that the media has a particular leaning...and that leaning is almost entirely dependent on the host/anchor. Lou Dobbs, for example, was a big Conservative, albeit before the Iraq war. Pat Buchanan's political leaning should not be in dispute, yet he doesn't support the war, either.

I'm not sure failure to support this war is sufficient enough evidence to lable someone a Socialist.

I heard about the Eagle protest on CNN, my local station, and the Detroit Free Press. I think the Eagle's are wrong but I support them, as well as the anti-war protestors, 110%. This is America.

Doug, Thanks for the kind words and I look forward to the show...

I was there and I'll tell you the so-called Anti-War crowd was peppered with others that had their own agenda.
Cuba, Palestine, as well as anti immigration signs were on display. Chants in arabic were heard as well as a hezbollah style group of 10 tried to jump the fence at the Vietnam war memorial after the Eagles had left.
So yeah freedom of speech is a good thing.

Most of the protesters marching to the pentagon were college students. along with their professors who were encouraging them along the way. Our education system at work.

I was there for one reason, to protect that which I had never seen from folks I never wanted to see.

I would defend their right to speak freely, but at some point responsibility and common sense should also be defended, the anti war protesters have used neither of the latter.

Any of you so-called Conservatives that believe they are doing something good for our nation by carrying the signs they did, and shouting slogans like they were are full of ----
They are traitors to our nation and emboldening an enemy of our way of life. Every jihadi that witnessed the DC march smiled until the cameras caught a glimpse of the opposition.
So keep on thinking this was meaningless or a suppression of free speech or what ever you think, eventually you will be given a choice to pick a side and the fence will not be so comfortable.
