A matter of National Security

Protests along the border crossings in Texas and California commenced today over the idiotic pilot program allowing Mexican trucking companies to transport cargo into the U.S. without checking the cargo as efficiently as before, based on issued permits allowing these trucks swift passage into the United States.

Syria fired upon Israeli Defense Force aircraft today, stating that the Israeli planes violated Syrian airspace. This coming while Syria and Israel continue their "technical" state of war, which primarily consists of a war of words.

A Muslim woman in Orange County, California, an suburban area just south of Los Angeles, is suing the Orange County Sheriff's Department for making her remove her head scarf while locked up in jail for eight hours. The Sheriff's Department stated that they required her to remove the scarf because of the chance that it could be used as a weapon.

And finally, Fred Thompson has finally entered the race for president. But, like the entertainer he is, he chose the Tonight Show to make the announcement, and did not attend last night's debate (of which I believe Huckabee was the big winner). Fred will bring a lot to the table, as his claims seem to be more conservative than his fellow candidate's. We'll see how it goes. What do you think? Should he have done this differently? How should he have made his announcement? Should he have participated in the debate?
