On page 4 of this month's Smithsonian Magazine there is an article about the Kauri. The kauri tree dominates New Zealand, and one particular kauri tree, called Tane Mahuta, is a New Zealand icon that is found on stamps, tea towels, and post cards. But, in New Zealand, the kauri trees are in trouble, the victim of a small, unexpected, culprit. These beautiful big trees are being taken out by a microscopic fungus in the family of Phytophthora.
.This is not a piece about environmentalism, and even if it was, it is important to remember that I do not support environmental activism nor well constructed lies using models based on erroneous input to push a religion of environmentalism like that of Manmade Global Warming. However, I do believe that we should be good stewards of the planet.
.
The point of this post is that these mighty trees, some estimated to be 2,000 years old and one measured at 169 feet high, are being ravaged by a microscopic fungus. Nobody saw it coming. Nobody even knew it was happening until the wild kauri forests, which once covered more than one-tenth of New Zealand's North Island, was reduced by more than 99 percent. Stephen King said, after watching a healthy 600 year old kauri near his home in the Waipoua Forest turn brown and die after only two months, "A beautiful big tree taken out just like that. It's hard to believe."
.
The infestation by another murderous pathogen is raging through Europe, Africa, and Asia, and is now showing advancement in the Americas and Australia. Civilization as we know it is dying, reverting back to the murderous barbarism of the middle ages. This infestation is called Fundamental Islam. Islamo-fascism is like that fungus is to the kauri. Slowly, without being noticed, it is infesting Western Civilization, and without extremely aggressive strategies, Western Civilization will die under the relentless attack.
.
Members of the left argue that Islam is nothing more than a different culture, and to respond in the manner that those who are fighting for the preservation to our nation does, is racist and irresponsible. Besides, many have told me (especially a trio by e-mail), do I really believe that the United States would allow such destruction of American freedoms by a small, radical group of hardly organized terrorists?
.
Can a microscopic fungus, left unchecked, eating away little by little, eventually bring down a massive kauri tree?

Three guests tonight will join Mrs. Pistachio and myself on Political Pistachio Radio. First, during the first segment of the show, we will be joined by Aaron Klein, author of "Schmoozing With Terrorists." Mr. Klein is an American journalist who had unprecedented access to jihad cells throughout the Middle East, and in those interviews performed by Aaron the terrorists revealed the details of their ideologies to him. By the way, Mr. Klein is a Jew. One listener will win a free copy of Mr. Klein's book - tune in to find out how!
.
Then, in the later part of the first half hour Terry Funderburk will pay us a return visit to talk about what has happened in his situation since the last time he was on our show. Terry is a South Carolina construction business owner who is going out of business because his competitors hire illegal aliens, thus pay lower wages to their workers. Terry, then, upset by the circumstances, protested with a sign in front of one of his competitors jobsites with a sign that indicated illegals were working on that job site. The police came, but not to take away the illegal aliens, but to arrest Mr. Funderburk.
.
Then, during the second half of the broadcast Mike Gray will call in to talk about his situation in Colorado. Mike Gray is an employee for Arapahoe County outside of Denver. When he is not at work for the county, he runs his own lawn care business. The truck he uses for his business is the same truck and trailer he uses for going to work at his day job with the county of Arapahoe. The sign on his trailer reads, "Lawn Services done with Pride by an English Speaking American." Because of the sign, his bosses at his job for the county threatened to let him go. Oh, he likes to wear a Border Patrol Cap too, by the way.

Oh, and if you haven't read about it yet, I wrote a post about how the San Francisco Bay Area is guilty again of anti-military actions.
