Richardson's resignation before taking office

Secretary of Commerce to-be Governor Bill Richardson, the Democrat from New Mexico, has resigned from the job before taking the job of Secretary of Commerce under Obama - - - After all, he didn't want his scandal to interfere with the running of the nation. Since when do Democrats worry about scandals interfering with the running of the country?

I wonder, however, if Bill Richardson feels so strongly about the importance of the economic post being filled as he has stated, and he wants to put the nation first, then why didn't he mention the investigations into his, uh-hmmm, dealings, a little bit earlier - like during the initial application process of becoming vetted?

Perhaps he didn't think he did any wrong, after all, he is even now proclaiming that nothing will become of the investigations and he'll be back to work soon enough. Did he only withdraw because he began to feel the heat? (Sounds a bit like Blagojevich, doesn't it?)

And interestingly, where is the media in all this?

Oh wait, that's right, they are too busy swooning over Caroline Kennedy, the Senatorial replacement for Hillary in New York - who has absolutely no experience whatsoever - heck, she hasn't even been the mayor of a town of 7,000 people! Oh, wait, she's royalty - Kennedys get that kind of pass in the world of the Democrats.
