When I came across the report from Homeland Security that proclaims conservative values makes a person a right wing extremist over the weekend, I reserved my opinion until I could verify that the document was genuine. In the last few days conservative talk radio and liberal television news has been talking about the report non-stop.
The true danger of something like this that basically criminalizes anyone that disagrees with the party in power is astronomical, and in direct violation of the 1st amendment.
The report, titled: "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," is not only an attempt to demonize the Right, but to set up the opportunity for rounding up anyone of dissent sometime in the future.
Yes, that is right, I said "rounding up." Historically, it has happened before.
Specific concerns in the nine page report includes, but is not limited to:
- The report in a number of places characterizes extremists as being anti-government, and proclaims that these people are capable of violence that must be controlled by the government. During the Tea Parties, the leftwing media was calling the rallies "anti-government" when they were nothing of the sort - the tea parties were actually "anti-big government expansionism." Below is an example of the media calling the tea parties "anti-government."
(notice how confrontational this so-called objective journalist is - and by her question about what it has to do with taxes, she apparently does not understand what the tea parties are all about)
- Report states: Rightwing Extremists have capitalized on the election of the first African American President, and are focusing their efforts on recruiting. . . " thus insinuating that the Right is filled with a bunch of racists. However, the conservatives do not bring up Obama's skin color, it has been all about his moronic policies. The Left is trying to paint conservatives as racist when in reality it is a lie, and it is the Left with a history of racism. The report may be referring to skin heads (which follow leftwing national socialism of Nazism), and the KKK. History shows that the Klu Klux Klan was created by the Democratic Party, and once served as the terrorist arm of the Democratic Party. Also, history shows that it was the Republican Party, not the Democrats, that overwhelmingly voted in favor of civil rights measures in Congress, while the Democrats mostly voted against civil rights bills. And of course, remember that the president known as the man who freed the slaves, Abraham Lincoln, was a Republican as well. So in reality, using the facts of history, the Democratic Party (not the Republican Party) has the history of being racist.
- The report refers to the Oklahoma City bombing as being linked to Right Wing Extremism, when in reality McVeigh was simply an unstable idiot. The connection is a real stretch.
- The report states: ...return of military veterans facing significant challenges... - are they suggesting that military veterans who served the country who take on views of the Right are suddenly criminals that must be watched closely? Is government going to put cameras all around them to make sure they don't do anything that might seem, uh, patriotic? Are they going to follow them around?
- In the report Rightwing Extremism is considered to be hate oriented, based on hatred of certain religions, racial, or ethnic groups. Later in the report it indicates anyone against immigration could be a rightwing extremist. Nobody I know is against immigration. Did they mean illegal immigration? Would opposing illegal aliens being given a path to citizenship be considered as hatred of a certain racial, or ethnic group because conservatives believe that immigrants should follow the law in their attempt to come to this country, rather than coming illegally? What about hatred of certain religions? Nobody is upset when hate is spewed out against Christianity. However, in this case, I believe the reference, though not specifically stated, is directed at anyone that believes Islam is a dangerous political ideology geared toward destroying any and all non-Muslim societies. Nevermind the fact that Islam is constantly stating in plain speech that their aim is to destroy Israel and force the West into accepting Sharia Law.
- Proposed imposition of firearm restrictions is mentioned numerous times. Not only is it unconstitutional for the federal government to restrict the ownership of firearms (this is a state issue), but the very idea of the federal government making the statement is a direct accusation that gun owners are dangerous, violent people capable of domestic terrorism, which is ridiculous. Remember, Stalin and Hitler both used the same argument before confiscating the weapons of the citizens, and then cracking down on those same citizens that were now unable to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. The report then directly refers to the Pittsburgh shooting as an example, which is a direct accusation that this individual who made the individual decision himself to carry out the heinous shooting, and who had various stress related circumstances occur before the shooting, was somehow the fault of "rightwing" beliefs.
- The report states: "Rightwing Extremist chatter on the internet continues to focus on the economy, the perceived loss of U.S. jobs (perceived?) in the manufacturing and construction sectors, and home foreclosures." This sentence qualifies my blog, then, on which I am simply practicing my own First Amendment Right, as a Rightwing Extremist site. So are they going to come and get me and lock me up because I dare have an opinion that is contrary to theirs? Remember, these are the same people that accused Bush of doing the same thing, yet they have no problem being oppressive against anyone that disagrees with them.
- Historical Presidential Election? Aren't all elections historical for one reason or another? There the left goes again, bringing up race, yet accusing the Right of doing so.
- Report states: "Rightwing Extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration (don't they mean "illegal" immigration?) and citizenship (this part insinuates the Right is against all immigration, which is an out and out lie), the expansion of social programs to minorities (if those plans are so wonderful, how come the people receiving them are still poor?), and restrictions on firearms. . . (U.S. Constitution restricts the federal government from imposing any restrictions - once again, this is not to say the states cannot have restrictions and laws regarding this issue - the federal government cannot infringe on my right to keep and bear arms - any arms - it is a state issue).
And that is commenting on just the first five pages of the report. I don't care how much the Left is trying to poo poo this away as being a report that is only addressing violent groups. The wording clearly targets any and all people of conservative thinking. In other words, it clearly singles out anyone that disagrees with the current administration as being "Right Wing Extremists," and the insinuation is that they are dangerous and must be contained. The Left spent 8 years demonizing Bush, and proclaiming that dissent is patriotic. Suddenly, any dissent against Obama is extremism, and criminal. This is hypocrisy, and the beginnings of totalitarian tendencies, if ever I saw it.
The report also addresses other issues, including same sex marriage, which also is an indication that the government considers any disagreement with their stance on that issue as being an extremist position.
So if we are all extremists, what are you going to do to us, Obama?
Napolitano? Do you have an answer?
Oh, that's right, we are only allowed to ask one question.
So much for Obama's Administration being one of open government, and accessible to the people.
There goes another campaign promise down as a lie.
Hold on, folks, the oppression of Liberalism just tightened another notch.
