Cheney: "We are less safe because of the Obama presidency."
Dick Cheney was on Face the Nation hosted by Bob Schieffer on Sunday. The show was billed: "George Bush has left town and is keeping quiet, but Dick Cheney is not. He's speaking out." Bob Schieffer was expecting apologies, admitted mistakes, and a man beaten down by the triumphant liberal left and their fearless leader, Barack Obama.
Bob hoped to pin Cheney down on some of his past statements as well, hoping for Cheney to show a sign of weakness, or provide a "gotcha" moment. Cheney, however, refused to reciprocate.
Bob Schieffer asked, "You said, for example, the Obama administration has made this country less safe. That's a very serious charge. Why have you taken that approach?"
Dick Cheney was clear and to the point, indicating how important the issue is, and how important what is at stake is. He then claimed the Obama team has "moved to take down a lot of those policies we put in place that kept the nation safe for nearly eight years from a follow-on terrorist attack like 9/11."
Bob did not expect that answer. After all, the liberal left is convinced in their warped little minds that for the last eight years that we have been less safe because of the Bush presidency, and that what the Bush Administration did in regards to the war, and Guantanamo Bay, actually created more terrorism.
Funny, we weren't doing anything like that when 9/11 happened. Oh, but I am sure the Left is convinced we did something to put ourselves into the position of being attacked that September morning in 2001.
Liberals are convinced that Bush created more terrorists. And if we get hit again during the Obama Administration, Obama will be blameless just like he is about everything else. He'll give some speech saying he inherited the terror attacks from Bush, and it is all Bush's fault. Then they'll try to appease the terrorists again, while all the while the Islamists laugh hysterically, and plan the next attack.
Dick Cheney, however, doesn't buy it, and unlike all of the other Republicans, he is willing to speak out, and defend the actions taken to keep this country safe. Thing is, he has no stake in all of this. He's wealthy, and he doesn't plan to run for office. But, because he loves his country so much, Dick Cheney remains available for interviews, and is proclaiming the God's honest truth to anyone willing to listen.
Cheney believes the Bush policies saved hundreds of thousands of American lives after 9/11. The very idea of canceling out all of the policies is crazy to him. It is setting us up for attack. The policies are safeguards, and Obama (and the Democrats) are doing whatever they can to eliminate the safeguards as Barry accelerates the war in Afghanistan that we should finish pulling out of as we were before he began to proclaim his rhetoric about needed to send more troops to Afghanistan.
We have already finished the job in Afghanistan. The Taliban had been defeated, and all that was left was warring warlords that we could do nothing about. Nobody can completely tame Afghanistan, just ask Russia.
Of course the liberal left is completely incredulous to this because they have been screaming their anti-Bush hate, and Bush Derangement Syndrome, for the last eight years, and when focused on lies like that for that amount of time, recognizing the truth becomes fairly difficult.
Again, hoping for remorse, or a slip up, Bob Schieffer asked, "Do you have any regrets whatsoever about any of the methods that were taken, any of the things that were used back in those days? Because there's no question it was a different time. The country's mood was different. We had just been through something here that had never happened before. In retrospect do you think we should have done some things differently back then or do you have any regrets about any of it?"
Ahhh, the torture reference. Surely, Dick Cheney is sorry they used the techniques they did now that Obama is exposing them for the war criminals they were!
Dick Cheney, as expected, gave the right answer. The necessary answer. The honest answer. He said, "No regrets. I think it was absolutely the right thing to do. I'm convinced, absolutely convinced that we saved thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of lives."
The liberal left is so convinced that Bush and Cheney made the world more dangerous that they expect Dick Cheney to say so. But how can you feel remorse for doing the right thing? How can you regret saving hundreds of thousands of lives using enhanced techniques that made the enemy talk?
Of course, Pelosi was recently caught in a lie about those methods, claiming she knew nothing about them, while the CIA testifies she was in on all of the briefings, and simply never protested against the methods.
When asked about Colin Powell, Dick Cheney said something funny. Powell's liberal attitudes, and support for Obama led Cheney to say, when asked about Colin Powell, "I think my take on it was Colin had already left the party. I didn't know he was still a Republican. . . I just noted he endorsed the Democratic candidate for president this time, Barack Obama. I assume that that's some indication of his loyalty and his interests."
Then Dick Cheney, in response to another Schieffer question, proclaimed he'd take Rush Limbaugh over Colin Powell in the terms of a Conservative Candidate.
Now I am sure that just scares the Left. They think Rush Limbaugh represents some some fringe, rightwing, nuthouse that is full of extremists reading their Bibles, teaching the U.S. Constitution to their children, and clinging to their guns. Rush Limbaugh, in reality, represents most Americans. This is a center-right country, and a lot of the sheep were simply deceived by the leftist lies to vote for Obama. For eight years the biased media demonized Bush and his team. Biden has proclaimed the economy has been a mess for eight years, when in reality after a small recessionary period in 2000, and an expected economic downturn after 9/11, the economy prospered for both of Bush's terms, until the final year when the liberal left's intrusions into the financial market finally caused it all to collapse.
Dick Cheney is not concerned about legacies. Politics, for the purpose of getting ahead in the game, doesn't concern him. He did this interview for no reason other than to get out the truth. He spoke with his heart. Dick Cheney is one of the final sane voices of the Republican Party, and it would do the GOP's leadership a service to listen to him. Cheney is a real American that is now not motivated by anything other than love for his country.
