Coming soon to America, preferential treatment for gays, and loss of jobs for Christians for daring to disagree with the lifestyle.
Why not? It's happening in Canada and Britain. In fact, in the United Kingdom a Christian doctor got kicked off an adoption panel because she wished to abstain from voting on cases regarding adoption by gay couples.
Have an opinion deemed unacceptable, get canned.
Dr. Sheila Matthews is no rookie, either. Her service on the panel has lasted 5 years up to this point. A pediatrician in the community, Dr. Matthews dared to believe it is "inappropriate to place children in a household with same sex parents as the best option."
She has previously abstained from voting on same-sex couples. Her feelings on gay couples adopting children, according to the head of the Northamptonshire's Children's Services, Martin Pratt, creates "significant problems" for the adoption service.
Dr. Matthews has pushed to be reinstated to the panel, and her case is being represented by the Christian Legal Centre (CLC).
The director of CLC, Andrea Minichiello Williams, stated that "This is a further example of how a well respected professional who holds conscientious views on sexual practice, informed by Christian faith, is being asked to choose between her faith and her job. Recent anti-discrimination legislation is having the opposite effect and devout Christians are suffering the consequences. This is not the mark of a free and civilised society where freedom of speech and religion is carefully guarded."
The Hate Crimes Bill, and a bill introduced in June by Rep. Barney Frank (H.R. 3017) will bring this kind of garbage to America (not that it doesn't already exist in some forms).
