MarketWatch reported: “In what is shaping up to be one of the more effective boycott campaigns in years, advertisers are abandoning the Glenn Beck show on Fox News following the host’s incendiary comments that President Barack Obama is a ‘racist’ and has a ‘deep-seated hatred for white people’.”
Friday’s ratings via TV By The Numbers:
5 PM – P2+ (25-54) (35-64)
Glenn Beck– 2,502,000 viewers (658,000) (1,224,000)
Situation Room—610,000 viewers (114,000) (218,000)
Hardball w/ Chris Matthews—487,000 viewers (123,000) (227,000)
Fast Money—206,000 viewers (a scratch w/ 52,000) (100,000)
Prime News–146,000 viewers (84,000) (112,000)
In the garbage timeslot of 5 PM Eastern, not only is Beck drawing more than twice as many viewers as any show on CNN and triple any show on MSNBC — but he outdrew Sean Hannity on Friday: 2,502,000 viewers to 2,278,000 viewers. For that night, he had the No. 2 cable news show.
We’ll see how often that happens. Maybe the eyeballs will bring the advertisers back.
Added note: Remember, under threat of forces attached to the Obama Administration, Advertisers have been withdrawing from Glenn Beck's program, yet his popularity continues to rise.
